that is really great, danmaku is probably only one shump in appstore which is close to the quality of cave games with maybe only one drawback of controls.
Look very nice! I love Shootem up, especially when the whole screen is full of missile/shot/whatever-they-throw-at-you
When it's done , though seeing the wealth of shumps coming in the month of February, I'm galvanized to put in some more work to make SS have more of a chance against the giants in the genre. Either way it'll be a great month for shmup fans! Personally quite looking forward to Darius...
Woot! Can't wait. Personally, Danmaku Unlimited is my favorite iOS bullet hell...even more than Cave's. =P But if you want to avoid the glut of shmups..you can hold off on the release..even though that'll make the wait even harder.
@tops2: no no! don't make that kind of suggestion! I just picked up Danmaku Unlimited yesterday, and really love it so far. SS will be a day-one buy for me. One quick question, which i don't know if it's been asked yet: will SS have the same audio setup as DMU? The reason i ask is because i find that the 'layering' of the sound effects in DMU means that sometimes the effects end up WAY too loud- for example, on the mid-boss of st.1, when it's firing the barrage of lasers at you, that high-pitched 'whoosh' sound is really piercing. Currently, i'm playing with the music at 100%, but SFX at only 50% to get over this problem.
That's a problem that I recently discovered as well while integrating the audio. I'm honestly not an expert in sound effects as I'm relying on an open source audio library, but I'll probably limit the number of sounds that can happen simultaneously so the layering doesn't get out of hand.

Will there be classic control option? I actually liked and to be honest PREFER the current Danmaku controls. Not that 1 : 1 is bad, just that i prefer to keep my fingers on the bottom of the screen on my iPad and use that little space to control my ship. I personally think that you guys nailed it with the control and sensitivity for iOS shooters on Danmaku. And also thanks for Danmaku, guys. That IS one of my favourite shooters. It reminded me of Mars Matrix on DC and Battle Garegga on SS. Keep it up! Looking forward to Storm Strikers.
yup there will be the option to choose between relative and 1:1. Glad you enjoyed Danmaku, I've been on crunch time mode for the past couple of weeks working on SS so hopefully it won't be too long now!
So Sunny, how is the development coming along? Expecting a release sometime in two weeks sounds hopeful?
At this point it's just prepping for upload for review and writing up the app store descriptions, so very very soon oh I'm also working on a launch trailer so there should be some exciting footage to share with you guys soon!
