Yep, maybe I'm too much a fan of the actual console version to be fully satisfied with a toned-down version, I guess

No, thanks for reminding that, I wanted to check it out yesterday night !
By some little screenshots I saw, it looks beautiful.

edit : ok saw a youtube vid, it looks very smooth and polished. Mechanics seem to be well thought, too. Reminds me of Virtua Fighter 4/5 playstyle :)
    Will definitely buy it.

Capcom didn't want to invest more than 40k ? Where did you get that number ? When I was that statement, I stopped reading the rest of your post.

As previously mentionned, it was a vague, gross estimation that had no importance in the post.

I'm editing it off, it doesn't deserve anything useful.

I see where you're coming from here, but looking from Capcom's point of view, they probably wouldn't see the point in investing a lot more money into the backgrounds and such, as I highly doubt that most people will be concerned about that sort of thing, as opposed to good controls (they have apparently spent 'months trying to make the game work'). To them, the sensible thing would be to

    1. Keep the money that would be spent into the backgrounds, and therefore make more profit, or
    2. Invest that money into things that matter more e.g. controls, framerate optimisation etc.

It's just the opportunity cost of putting money into stuff like the backgrounds, IMO.

    That's interesting true points.
Although, backgrounds seem to have their importance for gamers when I look at Blades of Fury reviews :)
Even the latest Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior has beautiful backgrounds, and I have to admit this is what partly helped to immerse me in the vids.

Well, I would say that the contr--

Uh, well I WAS going to say something about your point about the controls, but it's gone now, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Neither can I, can't wait to play as Juri. Also, 3 new character reveals (Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto) looks like SF3's getting some attention.

Still, I have Tatsunoko vs. Capcom to tide me over, which really is awesome.

    I feel you, mate :)
They seem to have taken the glass cannon concept further with her !
I loved Ibuki in SF3, too, and for sure she will be perfectly fitting to SFIV system (fast, reactive, space controlling).

I had a hard time with Makoto space controlling, on another hand ..

It looks awesome, by judging the vids ... TOo bad they only reserved it for Wii :/

Yeah, the PS3/360 guys are completely up in arms over it, which I suppose is a compliment to the game.

It's completely different to SFIV, I find the pace much faster, and it even plays differently from MvC2, which is refreshing. They gave Ryu ridiculous amounts of combo-ability, along with a massive Kamehamehadouken, which is ever-so-slightly-overpowered, but win nonetheless. He's also probably the most overused character online, next to Tekkaman Blade (damn you, Tekkaman Blade).

Slightly more on topic, I suppose it's not too much to hope for that Cammy will be in SFIV on the iPhone?

c0re, why even bother defending yourself to someone who has already made up their mind? From your posts all I see is a guy who enjoys a particular genre, and a wants to see the best come out of a particular game he likes. With that said, I'm glad I skimmed over what you guys wrote instead of reading it in detail. The nerd rage is strong in this thread. It's funny though because there is so much text, and nothing was accomplished.

Anyway, I'm excited for this game. I'm really hoping that it's not dumbed down too much. I'm not too concerned with the controls as I think it will be easy to work them out. With that said I am anticipating less moves and the like being available. I'm also not worried about a static background as I'll be too busy looking at the characters anyway. Plus, it's such a small screen, with large characters on it and flashy effects.

I think I read somewhere (maybe the IGN article) that characters will have their full movesets, including fully animated ultras. I'm not absolutely certain, though.

Oh, apparently Guile and Dan have been confirmed (we all love Dan). Still hoping for Cammy or Sakura.

Yeah core is the one Who shouldn't be defending himself after making a negative technical/economic assesment over some screens of a competitor game. Clearly it's a marketing move but I know core ( out of retirement after a 60sec hiatus ;) ) will deny it and claim he is just a fighting game fan. But for a fighting game fan all you do is be negative in all big fighting game save your own. And nerd rage? I'm not the one who is doing a Nostradamus over a screenshot of who knows what build. Just my 2 cents.

To be fair, he did praise the Bruce Lee title that's coming out soon.

Well after a sort of backlash he needed to change his Approach. It doesn't change things though.

    I said don't look here!
The only reason I read most of this thread is to hear sarcasticgamer's posts, because they are the truth, though I would like a look at the game c0re is making, because its hard to market it against a competitor to random people when you delete the link.... and both games are far from out...

Most ridiculous post I have seen on TA... seriously complaining on a pre-release screenshot? That's a new low.. sorry dude.

Would you say GTA looked like crap if you looked at the first screenshots? (The SS do looked like crap btw, but it does not show how great the actual game looks and plays like).
