Good fun! I hope I'm just getting lucky in my first 3 games as I seem to have won pretty easily each time. I'm going to assume improving the AI is one of the author's priorities so I'm more than happy to get on board with the game now since the actual mechanics are pretty clever.
Oh wow I'm currently ranked top 2! There's a new part that says something like "Stronghold construction complete. Prepare to nuke launch". Perhaps "prepare for nuke launch", or "prepare to launch nuke" will sound better? Nevertheless, this is a really cool game... I am really enjoying it!
I'd say something like "Stronghold construction completed. Initiating nuclear launch..." I still have yet to get lucky with cards. 3 HP left on AI within 6 moves and I get stuck with perimeter build cards. Grr..
I might have had a leg up having played a few very similar games on the PC (Realms of Magic and Arcomage). Is it just me or does the Wall not seem to play that important a role in this game? Am I to assume any Wall damage exceeding the last bit of Wall goes right to the Stronghold?
Hmm, thats strange. 399000 points for damage to you its a 798 points of damage. 15 cards played... To low for this damage level. We'll check this issue tomorrow.
Alright, I want to know who is responsible for me not knowing about this game before now. I demand satisfaction! I'm not sure how, but it must be Gek's fault.
I don't quite get how the score system works, but it seems the faster I finish the game with the least number of cards, the higher the score results. I'm gonna play a bit more and see if what happens
Depends on the card. If a card does damage to Wall/Stronghold then the excess damage goes to the enemy stronghold. If the wall is at zero then the full amount damages the stronghold. If the card only damages the wall then the excess does nothing. So it's not THAT important but it effects the way you play your cards. With a wall at or near zero you will can save your cards that attack the stronghold directly and use the wall/stronghold cards to inflict damage while the opening is present.
I take full responsibility for this and am very sorry. If it's any consolation I've been following this thread for a while but didn't dive in myself until last night. I was waiting for v1.5 since I heard the AI in v1.0 was a little lacking. I've beaten the AI in my first 3 games but I'm willing to concede it might be a lot of luck on my part.
LOL, sucker-- I mean, you darned well better be! I've played 4 games and won 3. This is just the sort of thing I like. It's turn-based with some strategy, but nothing that's brain-breakingly complex. I like it as is, but could see it really being fleshed out with a campaign mode, unique art and descriptions for the different cards, commanders with different abilities. Of course, at that point, you wouldn't be talking a bout a dollar game any more. This is great fun for the price, IMO.
Doh! I even read the instructions and didn't catch the significance of wall/stronghold cards...I had assumed they did the damage to both simultaneously not that they are linked as one pool with the wall in front. Now the wall does seem a lot more significant.
I just had a great game that took 49 cards to win. I was on the brink of destroying my opponent's stronghold when he played the card that gives +20 to his stronghold. It ended up as a race to see who could make the nuke first. The game is toward the easy side, and I think it is a bit easier to get the missile victory. It's fun for a quickie stress reliever, though!
My record now stands at 6 and 2, including a 10 card victory good for 4th place on the leaderboard. I do like how one game can play out quite differently than the next depending on the cards you get, although saying the randomness of it is a heavy factor is valid. My second loss came about because my opponent got a flurry of upgrade cards for his factory/barracks/arsenal early on and I just couldn't keep up. It was fun trying, though
Its official! First player to crack 100,000! /patselfonback Ash, the scoring system seems to be skewed too far towards the "win asap" side. Any way to change either the win conditions and/or scoring values next update? In terms of AI, not sure if the computer just gets lucky or is a real ass, but i have lost a solid 3 or 4 games to combinations of +15 and +20 building cards. Nearly threw my ipod into my tv! Tricky deck randomization! Edit: IMO winning by attrition really should give substantial score bonuses as compared to a stronghold completion. Im trying hard to get a resource win quickly to see the score difference. Ill post up if i do!
