I may be the only one here thats gonna say this (so don't kill me!) but I like the current way it is right now with nominations. Top 10 nominated go to the poll, #1 in the poll is game of the week. However, I'd propose something like a maximum nominations. For example, you can only nominate five games or something like that...
*Kills DodgerBlue016* *Talks to dead body* But thats twice the work (for voters, first nomination and then voting) and way too much wait for some of those who already have their opinion for most of the games. Also the no limit for max games one can vote for and weighted polls definitely outweigh the current system IMO. Once again, I'm just discussing it. Nothing has changed for this poll. If anything this new system will be applicable from next week so continue the nominations and keep waiting for poll to go live
*wakes up as a zombie* Wow, why has my skin turned green? Okay, if it starts next week i can understand it. I'm just making sure, but only five star reviews count? Another reason I'm against it is b/c when i click the rating, nothing ever happens, lol. Maybe I'm doing it wrong though I think there should be a nominee section, and the nominee has to be nominated at least twice to be picked. (if this gets more popular, bring that requirement up). Or we have a poll on your idea and vote
No. all the star ratings will count. Something like this.. 3 points for 5 star 2 points for 4 stars 1 for 3 stars -1 for 2 stars -2 for 1 stars Dont worry if you think that will be complicated to figure out the final points as that will be my job anyways This will give a much better idea about forum opinion. Say you loved Pocket RPG abut also found reckless getaway quite a lot of fun too. But you can only vote for PocketRPG right now. There is no way for you to show your love for reckless getaway. Rating it in appinfo will be give you the option to rate all the games based on how much you liked.
Got it, makes sense. But I can't seem to be able to rate in the appinfo. I'm probly missing something totally obvious, but when I hit the rating (where you click the amount of stars) it just moves with my mouse. I can't find any "select" type button to complete the rating...
Thats normal. You just need to click on the star you want as the rating (click on the 4th star to give it a 4 star rating) and it'll accept your rating. Try that. After voting refresh the page and click on the number below "Average User rating" to see if your vote got registered or not. Lemme know in case it doesnt.
A quicker way would be to just multiply the star rating by the numbers of user ratings. So a 5 star rating based on 3 users = 3 star rating based on 5 users.
So 3 votes for 5 star ratings will equal 15 votes of 1 star ratings? Last I checked, 1 star rating meant the game is crap Maybe we can skip anything below 3 and just count the stars from those who voted 3 or more.
I think these GOTW votes have just as much to do with popularity as they do quality of the title. And this will stop people from down-voting games they've never played before, which although sounds obsessive, I wouldn't put it past people. Anyway, I won't be counting them so what ever works best I guess
Ok just saw this proposal - but then can you discard the automatic 1 and 5 stars that are put in there all the time? The 1's from people who find pleasure in for no particular reason at all just rating a game 1 star and the 5 from the developer themselves? Maybe those can stay but the 1's worry me as some of the people that vote don't ever post - EVER. And they certainly don't post why they rated a game (every game apparently) 1 star.
I plan to only count votes of members who took part in the GOTW thread. Will need to disqualify members like Midian who posted in it as a joke though
