I don't like GTA that much. I prefer BOP over it! Battle of Puppets is a very good game. (except for the terrible german translation)
Wonderful thread to generate flame wars and gather GTA fanatics. Watch the flamethrowers blasted at anyone who doesn't say GTA. How amusing. Do we really need another "what's your favourite game" thread? There's only a thousand other threads exactly like this one floating around. If you really feel like your spine is gonna crack unless you let the world (who couldn't care less) know about what you like, put it in your signature.

You do realize I was exaggerating right? People were saying stuff like "GTA is the best, hands down, no question", those kind of stupid comments are conductors for flame wars. Seeing as how GTA is like the most popular thing right now, do you honestly think there won't be any debates in this thread for anyone who didn't choose GTA as their favourite game? If I had a fan team of 20 people chasing after my tail simply for stating constructive criticism of Ravensword and indicating I did not like the game, somehow I doubt people would let any negatives comments towards GTA float past. And no, I'm not a GTA:CW hater. I may have disliked the previous GTA games but due to certain improvements in this game I've shifted to a neutral position on this game. I couldn't care less about it.
Actually, this thread has had a good discussion going in it... until you got here and said all this. If you read the thread, you'll notice that whether or not people are in love with GTA, everyone can pretty much agree that it's a monumental release, a full fledged and high quality game, and deserves being the best game of the month. And then everyone is chiming in with their other favorites. Nobody is flaming anyone that doesn't like GTA, we are respecting each other's opinions and discovering what our fellow gamers liked last month. Your post tries to denounce flame wars, when in reality it's the one post in this whole thread that would be likely to start one. Bravo.
I agree with starmonkey and Boardumb, the discussion was fine. The reason people were saying "GTA, no question" isn't because they're fanatics, it's because the game is immensely popular and such a comment holds a lot of merit. I was one of the people who said it, and of course I realise that not everyone enjoys the game, but it is still by far the biggest release of the month regardless.
yep! i dont even have GTA, but i accepted the fact that it is the best of january 2009. battle blasters in a close but somewhat-distant second though
I don't think it's my favorite game of all time, but it was definitely a monumental release. It's DS and PSP forms even won the "Handheld Game Of The Year" award from Game Informer. Just the fact that it was ported so well, with the entire experience, set it up to a whole new level. Much respect, Jesse
If you don't like GTA, GET OUT! Haha Jk! I've really been enjoying Necromancer Rising, GTA, and Assassin's Creed II in January. I couldn't choose between them.
Me too. I don't own it, no plans to get it. Not for me. BUT it's an obvious choice for January - Game of the month. So what about honorable mentions??? It would be cool if we gave it to an indie developer. Assassins Creed II - I'm not seeing any support for this yet. Battle Blasters? - I hear this is VERY good. Cogs? Broken Sword? - certainly a title worth mentioning. Battle of Puppets? Eveningstar? The Horrible Vikings? PS. I was ready to let this thread die due to lack of posts but if you guys are still interested I'll get a poll going and we can move on to February which already has some breakthrough titles!

Yeah, I said AC II in the beginning as an honorable mention. Definitely a great game. Love the animations and the fast paced gameplay.
AC II was incredible. The animations were great. Just because its a sidescroller doesn't mean its 2D, it's definitely 3D! The graphics are great. My only complaint is the occasional lag. However, excellent and fun game.
