Hey guys, here's the idle animation for now. I would have loved to work on it more though I've got a lot of animations lined up that need to get done. Unless we have some free time later on, I won't be changing it. :/
Hey Voxelate, Thank you! At the moment we've just got one idle per character until we get all the main animations out of the way. If we have time we've definitely going to add more. If we don't get around to it for V1.0 we'll definitely have it for the next version when we're adding stuff for the story.
Hey Funny Friends, We just wanted to share with you our totally serious, non-joking, loading screen for our game. We totally didn't just find out how to change it. And we totally already knew how to edit the app icon and name. ^_^ Enjoy
Unless someone can think of anything better? Honestly that is about as perfect as a loading screen as you can get. And that is all 'In-Game'! Haha!
Hello all! I have another play test for you guys. Just showing off some of the ship textures and also our testing process... This is part silly and part demo. Also please enjoy this screen capture from within my 3GS device.
Nice game you got going! I realy like dual stick shooters and the animation and characters looks great so good luck.
Hey ojlk! Ya we have a soft spot for dual stick / twin stick shooters ourselves, and you can thank Raveen for the sweet animation. I will check out your game when I get some free time. Thanks!
Ya we are finding UDK difficult but manageable, plus the power it provides us is a real boon to production.
Hey Ojlk, Thank you so much. Animation is one of my most favorite parts of production though I don't get to do it as much as I'd like in other projects. The awesome character design is courtesy of Michael, he did a brilliant job on designing Hugo. As for updates, here's a little 2D animation I did to plan out the death animation for Hugo. Please excuse the terrible drawings.
Hey jammin' junkies! Got some new screen shots here for you tonight. They show off the updated texture of the ship, which is still probably only about 10% complete. I am hand painting, mostly, all of the textures. Also we have been able to get the game running on the iPhone 4, iPad and iPad 2. So you can expect support for all of these devices. Please note also that the textures have not been optimized as of yet. iPhone 3GS iPhone 4 iPad 2
lol! I didn't even see that. Be sure though that these games will run a the very minimum of 30fps. Thanks voxelate!
Hello everyone! Here are some animation updates for the day. First, here's Hugo's animation when he takes damage. It's pretty simple. We're going to get it to cycle between each one randomly when he gets hit. Haha! We used our special optimization techniques. It worked quite well.
Hello everyone! Here's another update for today. For the Bomber's run I changed the animation today. Michael suggested that he should have his arms up and running like a madman which looks really funny and cool on him. Thanks Mike! Michael will come along soon and post his updates for the day. Keep an eye out for that!
Hi ho silver away! Hey guys! Got a few things for you tonight. First is some more in game, slash, in device screen shots of the game. The main thing here is me showing off the textures. I have had to redo them twice since the last time I posted screen shots here, which sucks, but I do not foresee having to redo them anymore. I think the texture is coming out fairly nicely, not as cartoony as we wanted but that can be easily rectified. Note that the ship looks gigantic in comparrison to him. Two reasons. 1. He may very well be too small, once the other props are in we will have a better sense for his size. 2. Well, he might be fine and, again, once we get some of the other props in we will have a better idea of his size. I have a blog post going up tonight or tomorrow, I will have to see how tired I become. I will have the rough draft written out tonight, but I usually give myself a few hours before going back and editing the rough draft. It gives your mind time to reformulate your thoughts and you can more easily pick out any errors. As it is already 12:44am there is a good chance I won't have the final draft finished tonight... And after that there is our second Developers Diary going up in an hour or so. I am just waiting for the video to finish uploading to YouTube. Feel free to comment on last weeks Diary and shoot us any questions or comments you might have. We will see about answering them in the video! In fact, If anyone would like us to answer anything in the video please say so in your post. Something like... "Ohh Michael, why are you so handsome and Raveen is ugly?! Please answer in your next Dev Diary!" and we will do so! Anyhow on to the screen shots!
The game is coming along realy nice. I think the reason 3 for the ship looking "gigantic" it that the wooden boards are very wide/large compared to the character. It maks him look like a toy/miniature.
