    The Bramblemen are awesome.

They remind meow the little mask dudes in Zelda: Majora's Mask...

    Which was infinitely awesome,of underrated.

Keep up the awesome character art.

Will the tentacles have textures and bumps to them? I like that the writhe, if ever slowly. Adds dimension, when most worlds seem static.

    Hey Pacificsun0481,

Thank you again for your kind comments! :D

The tentacles will have textures, we haven't got round to them yet as we're finishing other assets at the moment, though, they will have textures! :D

    Thanks!!

So I just want to apologize to you guys for the lack of updates this week. We have been very busy with the game in the areas where there is a little less to show than usual. Such as tweaking engine settings and what have you.

However I can show you this screenshot from within UDK. A few things to note about the screenshot.

    - The big checkerboard surface is where the water will be
    - The pink boxes are 'collision' meshes. Basically they tell the engine where Hugo CAN'T walk. Think of them as invisible walls. I am sure most of you have encountered these in many games before. :)
    - A lot of the textures and props / objects are still not in the level at this point. We are sorting through some technical issues before we import them into our level.

Cheers! Look forward to a new Developer Diary tomorrow!

First time viewer of this game, I actually went and watched a bunch of youtube clips as well. Wow! First off I love being able to take the ride with the developers like this, seems like it is almost sucking me in :). I love dual stick shooters a ton, I am betting this will be something I like a lot. Keep up the great work devs, I'll be watching the show for sure :).

    Thank you kind sir!

Indeed, it is being developed with UDK.

    Haha! We certainly hope so!

    Hey Blown454,

Thank you so much. We're glad you like watching the development process, that's the reason we started putting our stuff out there for people to see!

    Thank you again!

    Hey Hot Pockets!

We just finished recording out fourth developer diary for the game, you can check it out below. I apologize for the low resolution, we were using YouTube's built in recording software, which admittedly is quite nice, but doesn't allow you to edit the size of the recording.

Also, I apologize for the lack of Bramblemen images within the video (once you watch you will understand), I had meant to overlay the images as Raveen was discussing them, but, again, since we used YouTube's recording software I was unable to add images from within YouTube, though maybe I have missed an option somewhere?

Anyhow, enjoy and drop us some feedback! :)

Woah! Knowing that this game is built with UDK makes me even more exited!
Keep up the excellent work guys!
btw one question, this game is based on a story line/campaign right?

    Hey Redskull97!

Ya, we are really trying to push the visuals on the iOS. It is going to be tricky to balance gameplay and great graphics, luckily UDK handles these very nicely.

Also, yes the game will have a storyline and campaign. However our release schedule is as follows:

    Version 1 = Level 1 Survival Mode
    Version 1.5 = Level 1 Story Mode
    Version 2 = Level 2 Story + Survival
    Version 3 = Level 3 Story + Survival

    etc

The main reason we want to push Survival first is because we want users playing our game, getting a feel for the world and the characters as soon as possible. Since this is our very first game everything is a huge learning experience for us. Once we get core gameplay out of the way we can add ... well, anything really. :)

If The Curse of Kullvaria really jives with our audience we have a ton of great ideas we want to implement.

    :)

Also, as a side note to everyone, remember to keep an eye on the First two posts in this thread as I am constantly updating them with new information. In fact, I use post two as a hub for all previous media posts.

Am I the only one that plays Gun Bros, Star Blitz, Geometry Wars, PewPew/2 a couple times (if not more) a week? I'm skiddish about mentioning these as I don't want to be blasted for liking them, but it appears I must be somewhat addicted to the 'increasing in difficulty' of levels with survival type modes. It seems most say "they want a story" in the dual stick shooter type games (e.g. Recently with D.A.R.K), but I guess I was missing the "survival" element in it! I don't know if I'm in the minority or majority, but I know there are tons of people still playing the games mentioned above.

Why do I bring this up for Curse of Kulvaria? I am hoping it has that survival element with ongoing leveling up, becoming stronger as you play over long time, and maybe even possibility of stronger weapons along the way. I have seen survival mode descriptions in the plans of the game, but you never really know what that means, here's to hoping there's some depth into the survival element as well as story! (for those that are into story mode). I hope I am not asking for too much lol!

Have fun on your weekend getaway, I kept trying to imagine Hugo popping up in the video but he never showed! :). Too funny...

    Hey Blown454!!

Once we get further along with the game we will be showcasing exactly what survival mode will entail.

For now however I can say that it will be, basically, a high score type style mode. We do have plans for longevity via some type of leveling system at some point, but that is still a ways off.

Above all however, we will make sure that the core gameplay is fun. We don't play games that aren't fun and neither should you. :)

Thank you so much for your wonderful post! And thank you for the wishes. I will blame the evil Bramble Lords for the lack of images in the video! hehe.

    Hello everyone!

How did the weekend treat you guys? :)

Here are some animations I worked on today. They're both still being refined in case you guys are wondering why it looks terrible! There are still more poses and more timing tweaks to be done!

I just discovered this game, and it looks sweet. I love the beauty renders of the main character and the minions.
I've seen the playtest, it's looking good but of course it needs some kind of adjustment to clip all the geometry that goes in front of the camera hindering the view. But I'm sure you already know this :)

Also, I'm following you guys on FB and Twitter (where I added you to my devs list). The game really deserves, I'm looking forward to see more.

It's nice to see that everything is coming along well. Looking forward to the release, even though it won't happen for over a month :p
