Damn, there's a rumor that Retro Studios (the creators of the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime series) is bringing Donkey Kong back. Sweet if true. Can't wait to see all the conferences, starting tomorrow with Microsofts. For live-streams check IGN or Gametrailers.
Rumors for now: Kotaku Project Natal: Will be called "Kinect" and a new slimmer Xbox 360 will be unveiled:
This just in: Microsoft is releasing a new version of the XBOX, the Xbox 3000. It will be twice the size of the normal Xbox 360 unfortunately, and will suck up so much energy each unit will be powered by small individual nuclear power plant off the cost of Maine. Also, the new name for Natal is Jqeoiruwlkentikalweerhicjalkti Source: Bill Gates' Blog That tells you what I think about rumors
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1096876p1.html Looks like it was confirmed. Not the xbox 360 slim though.
Kinect? Where was the logic for that name? Fuse kinetic and connect together? This is English, not German. Someone on that marketing team should get fired. Natal sounded so much better. This sounds like an OpenFeint rip-off late to the game. /rant
Pfff, I couldn't care less what it looks like as long as it doesn't sound like a rocket when playing a disc and has a much lower failure rate. Assuming it's true. Which it probably is.
Don't worry... Bioware's sure to pull something out of their magic hat. That will, of course, have Kinect functionality.
So...when my mom walks in on me holding a Toilet paper roll playing swinging it around..ill be fine... Ill stick with remotes. I don't get it, I play video games to mash a few buttons, and then see that NEW HIGH SCORE SCREEN! If I wanna play a war game that can sense me, Ill play airsoft. Explain the fun to me, it just seems harder, it seems like a niche that we wont need in our long haul, which is imaginay worlds...and IDK what im saying...sorry
Your hardcore games are never going anywhere. Microsoft's just trying to go the Nintendo route and broaden their markets. Us button mashers probably won't get much in the long haul (playing an FPS with your body would be hell), but we'll at least get some really ****ing cool XBLA arcade games.
The thing is, now Microsoft has a console which caters to the hardcore, and one which caters to the casual (a.k.a. the profit generator), while Nintendo only has one console which caters to the casual, which also doubles as a console which many third parties are afraid to even try developing for, which is annoying for me as a hardcore gamer and a Wii owner. Microsoft are pretty smart by releasing two consoles which appeal to audiences on both sides of the spectrum.
