I guess it depends on how you classify a game. If fart apps (or the like) are considered games, then I'd agree most indie "games" are shitty. If you are just counting the people that actually tried to make a real game, not just a cash grab app, then I'd say the ratio of fantastic to crappy gets much smaller. If there's 30,000 indie "games" out there, then even if 300 of them are ZOMG AMAZING that's still just a drop in the bucket. I think the point shiz is trying to make, is there's PLENTY of amazing indie games out there, some that are so unique and fun you can't experience them anywhere else. If you turn a blind eye to those games just because they're "indie", then it's your loss. The biggest reason so many people love supporting the indies is because they're here on the forums with us, answering questions, considering requests and feedback, they're a part of the community here just as much as the people who play the games. That's what creates such a huge support system for the indies. If Rockstar, Gameloft, EA, etc were here on the forums more talking to us, we might feel more endeared to those bigger games as well. They pop in every now and then (well maybe not Rockstar), but they're too busy to give people on an internet forum the proper attention like someone who does this as a side job/hobby. Sure, what you call "fanboyism" might be irritating to you, but don't ruin the pleasure that other people get from interacting with game devs here. It's really unlike any other gaming environment on any other system, and that's why people appear to be such "fanboys" about indie devs. Hope that all made sense. Basically, Azrael don't be close minded regarding indie games, you WILL miss out on some gems. And who cares if people are fans of indie games and support them? Just let them be, and do your own thing.
If you can only argue half as good as Board this could have ended sooner but you have to resort to lying to make up for poor writing skills.
Me are you joking? Your posts havent been longer than 15 words, and havent contained any fact at all. You know, I've already won this argument by a long shot. No need to bash this young mind further.
http://www.igfmobile.com/ If you read it you'll notice hook champ is on the list for 'best ipod/iphone' games. But..no GTA?
It's Independent Games award of course there is no GTA all entries are indies and part of qualification is to be indie. And with Pocket god as co-nominee and it's not even a game right. Your Stupidity amuses me, leave the arguments to more intelligent members next time
No one wants to let the other say the last word hahaha! Kinda makes me want to wait for the next response
You shoulda bought MiniSquadron!!! (But Peace out bro! I find Hook Champ to be a top game ) <goes away again to make the minisquadron extended edition> <and Project FvD> <lurks>
Got that already hours before it got featured in Appvent calendar hahaha! Mini Squadron was also mentioned in an episode of the Video Game Show, the crew likes it
everything is always relative to the particular user. my PERSONAL opinions/preferences/actions are different than most/many, but i'm sure similar to others as well. i personally will never waste a dime/minute on something like assasin's creed or gta. primarily because i laugh at the price (i can get a 'superior' version of the gameplay on a console/pc used for the same amount (+/-)), and secondly, because i hate those particular game series. i would also never spend a penny on any ea sport title, or even though i like command & conquer on the pc, i would never spend a penny for it on my itouch. i buy appstore games that offer UNIQUE itouch/iphone ONLY experiences. i know this is a personal mindset of mine, but i find it 'stupid' to want to play a console game on an itouch, just like i find it 'stupid' to want to play mass effect 2 on a console when i have the option to play it on my computer (yes, on a big hdtv in REAL 1080p and recliner/surround sound/etc)...again, this is MY mindset, not commenting on other's gaming preference logic. SO, if there's a unique portable game i can ONLY enjoy on my itouch, i'll consider it. IF its at a cheap price, i'll consider BUYING it, instead of putting it on my wait for a price drop list. IF the price doesn't drop, no loss, i still have a glut of 0.99 apps i have to play through. What am I saying? not sure, perhaps that there are people out there that don't give one frack about what any of the corporate steamrollers shovel out to milk another audience. Some of us are happy to dig through the piles of crap and look for a gem. Of course one man's gem is another's crap, and vice a verse... I love some genres and despise others. but unique stuff like little physics games and dynamite/cannon/archer/defense/etc games just SEEM much more fun when i get to interact with my finger rather than a mouse/keyboard/controller. these are genres that the steamrollers don't really want to touch for whatever reason, probably because they can't pantent/lawyer the genre up or something. as long as these quirky apps exist, the steamrollers won't make a dent to the spirit of the appstore.
