Some reviews make me want to spend the £5 on the game, just to write a response to their clear ignorance of something I picked up just from the screenshots! Another review I hate is on Spotify app. Everyone says "This isn't free, itz £10 a month! RIP OFFFF". And one even said "There's no warning when u download this that you have to spend £10 a month" - except in the app description under notes, I suppose!
I'm not sure this wasn't alluding to the gameplay. In regards it's gameplay could have been better-and I think this was reflected by it's not-so-great popularity.
In the indian app store there very rarely do i get any reviews. So I rely on TA and other websites for feedback. As a user, I always make it a point to review games that I like. For games that I give an honest chance and I don't like I do give a negative review with reasons. And for games that I play only for five minutes or so and delete (have been tons of these courtesy appshopper) I do not give a review because I delete them in the first place because it wasn't a game meant for me in the first place so my review couldn't help someone who would like that sort of a game. (for e.g. I don't like Tower defense games, so i never reviewed battle of puppets even though i didn't like it) I hope people who complain about review system on appstore do take the effort of writing honest reviews themselves.
I think the one star reviews for the RPN calculators that say "it needs an equal sign button" are rather unfortunate -- people have purchased them without obviously understanding what they are getting with an RPN calculator.
I cracked up reading about this. I think whining about retina display is justified. If you notice most of the apps in the top 50 have retina display. Retina display will give more sales.
What about all the reviews in Call of Duty Zombies, saying stuff like "I'll give this 5 stars if you add the Black Ops maps" etc.
I find it hilarious when people mark completely useless reviews "helpful," such as this awesome one I found while reading through NFS:HP reviews:
That review was just idiotic, didnt have anything to do with the actual gameplay of Alien Space. I really enjoyed the game and thought the gameplay was just as good as games like Meteor Blitz, better in some ways because of the much better variety of weapons available. Also blowing stuff up with the mines in that game is lots of fun. I just wish it had more levels adn more enemies, but the survival mode is a lot of fun too so I cant complain.
Another I hate seeing is when people complained that a game crashes too much. Although sometimes it might be true, 99% of the time, they needed to restart their iDevice. Check out Line Rider iRide. ANNOYING.
Seriously. They're rating their own connection speed. I saw a guy say: "took 4 EVER ta download it must be HUUUGE!!!" for like an 87mb game.
