How will games that use a virtual joystick work on an iPad? If the game is just a blown up version of the iPhone game, then won't the joystick be blown up too, making it really awkward to control? Also, the screen on the iPad does not go as close to the edge of the device as the screen on the iPhone does. It seems like you'd have to stretch your thumb out to control the joystick on the iPad which does not sound comfortable.
introducing the iPalm: you move with your whole palm! that would b wierd huh, it'll take forever to slide you finger across
The 2x mode simply doubles everything, controls, graphics - everything. So a joystick would be twice its size and in the same position relative to where it would be on iphone. That is likely not going to be very easy to use as you suggest. However, if you watch the demonstration by Gameloft, they showed off NOVA on the iPad, which utilised a virtual pad, suggesting it is possible to play like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq1Z_xsA2EM
I am pretty sure that apple took this into consideration when spending hundreds of millions of dollars perfecting this device.
Maybe this would work: Have a little adapter that goes into the charging port of the iPad. Then, you buy an iPad controller that is meant for the iPad. The game will take up the iPad's screen with no onscreen buttons, similar to a TV. Then just play the game wirelessly. Make sure the iPad is sitting up though. Would this work? This is highly unlikely though since it would cost maybe $40-$50 for the controller.
It'd probably be possible for a developer, though probably have to be a pretty popular one, to make an iPhone/itouch app that could be use Bluetooth for a wireless ipad controller. Also there is a package for jailbroken devices that allow you to use a wii remote to control some of the emulaters so it would be possible for somebody to make a controller but unless apple makes it with and it has a low enough price point I doubt it'll become very popular
