what's the difference between Inotia 2 and the games mentioned on this thread? I was thinking of trying it.
inotia 2 is the most grinding you've ever seen and will take around 80 hours to beat. across age will take 20 hours and has a great story and has nearly no grinding at all.
If you're looking for Zelda, get a DS. None of them will live up to your expectations. This is from a comment on the AppSpy review on Youtube of Across Age, "Also the attacks you use as the swordsman are pathetic all you are pretty much doing is humping the opponent..." It's been awhile since I played this, but that's exactly what I thought also. The menus, sprites, ect are beautiful but the bulk of the game ie: actions weren't that impressive, unless you enjoy bumping into enemies till they die which you'll notice at about :37. I thought the attacks were more fluid in Zenonia, which is still probably the best action rpg on the platform (even though the story gets a bit meh in places).
I think its the 2nd rpg in its mini rpg series.. This is probably the closest thing the appstore can have to the original Zelda! Its just not as good though.. Could anyone tell me how I can get nescaline? I just recently jailbroke and cant seem to find it on cydia.. I have an emu by ZodTTD but I dont really like it..
I was about to say that. This thread is full of people who don't know that there are many different kinds of RPGs, and the Zelda games are totally different from those mentioned here. There really isn't a game on the iDevice that meets the same puzzle-solving, dungeon experience of the Zelda games.
I knew there were multiple, but I don't know how they are classified, so if you could inform me it would greatly help
1st person dungeon crawl - RPGs that are from a first person perspective, usually with multiple party members and turn-based. Undercroft is a good example of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZIN-_8JJbA These are also typically a medieval/high fantasy setting. Action RPG - Real-time action, usually from a third person perspective. Good examples are Underworlds and Dungeon Hunter. Zenonia also falls into this category. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqs7kHgLN9M J(apanese)RPG - Almost always based around a battle system where you select actions from a menu. Monster RPG 2 and Steam Pirates are examples of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLwmKhQ5KRI&feature=related Roguelikes - similar to RPGs, but more focused on the dungeon crawling, monster-fighting experience. The most notable feature of Roguelikes is permanent death and no saves. They usually aim for a high score, and they have a lot more focus on strategy and planning. Always turn-based. Examples are 100 Rogues and Powder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9A7oRhIASo The Zelda series falls into Adventure RPG/action adventure - a more open-ended world with some combat, but especially puzzle solving and more focus on interactions/quests/etc.
thank both of you guys. this will help me tremendously (seeing as how my favorite type of game is anything in the RPG category)
Its difficult to find a game like Zelda in terms of gameplay & story. But even though Sword & Sworcery is way different from it, it still has the heart of the Zelda games, and not to forget the Zelda references all over. I have yet to try Across Age & Zenonia.
We just released Twin Swords: Blade of the Phoenix If you like adventure games, you will love this game. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=181888 The game is also a candidate on the "Game of the Week" Roy.
