The AI in both the iPad and the iPhone version are stupid easy. They don't even to bother to complete routes and randomly pick up new destination cards. I was hoping when they released the AI characters that this would be corrected, but no such luck. The only reason I play the single player is to get a high score. Now you can play locally with iPad players, so it's a matter of time before this gets the multiplayer update. Think about it, if you give everything in the first version, you leave no room for improvement. Here's my prediction: First update - new maps Second update - multiplayer

Wow, a friend surprised me and gifted this and Tigris & Euphrates to me. While I haven't had time to try Tigris & Euphrates yet I have played a number of games of Ticket to Ride. I don't have an iPad so I have not played what sounds like a far superiour version of the game but as for the iPhone/iPod version the game mechanics are great. I'm guessing tons of users already posted all the wonderful things about the game so I'm just going to list my complaints that I hope are addressed. 1. AI doesn't seem to be very competitive. They never try to block, they always seem to be drawing an excessive amount of cards and rarely play them, they take new routes out of no where even near end of game when they have no hope of completing them. 2. No online. I don't really get their explanation for not including it as they already have it for their 360 version, iPad version, and PC/Mac versions. I think the same developers did all version. 3. Only the USA map. I wish they added some of the additional ones, honestly they should have put the complete version of the game that is on the iPad onto the iPhone and iPod versions and charged the higher amount. For $0.99 sure it is good but in the state the game is now I'm going to likely delete it from my device because there isn't much reason to want to go back and play it. If it had online I would be playing it forever no doubt but I can only beat the AI so many times before I get bored. Add online and extra maps even if you have to charge extra via In App Purchases, other wise it will likely be deleted and never touched again. It seems to me like they just dumbed down the game so they could list it for $0.99. Maybe they didn't want to take sales away from their iPad version.
you already know that each opponent portrait stands for difficulty level, right? edit: feel free to add me if you want to play Tigris & Euphrates... it is a great game once you master quite complicated rules..
Yeah I've played around with the different AI. Either way it still sucks playing againts AI when they could have easly added online. Also kind of weird that you can't change your own character portrait. Yeah I haven't even tried the tutorial in T&E yet. Let me tackle that first before I start adding people.
after playing it for some time i play it now more like solitaire trying to get the highscore, but even this is a bit boring because there is only one good strategy to get it. the problem with this version of the game is that usa map is just boring and unbalanced, there are few important cities and junctions only. of course with real people it could be more fun, but ai sucks and it means this game is kind of nice but at the same time completely empty. i looked at some reviews of europe and other maps and it seems like they are much more balanced than usa map. no including them in the iphone version because of their details level is just a lame excuse, even with this price.
I enjoy playing this version (I have the iPad version too, but this is nice when I don't have the iPad with me), but really hope they add the 1910 expansion and the other maps, as well as the online, the expansions/maps as DLC. The USA map is more balanced with the 1910 expansion.
I got this game the other day and finally had a chance to sit down and play it last night. After hearing all of the praise on the forums for this game I had high expectations. I have to say the game definitely lived up to them! This game is very fun. I'm going to have to put some money aside one day for the multiplayer version now.
TTR is one of those games that can look dry, boring, or overly complicated if you're just looking at the screen/box shots (and that's exactly what I thought of it before playing it), but once you start actually playing the game, it's very easy to get into and is a lot of fun. (Power Grid, on the other hand, is the kind of game that seems like it'd be very dry and boring, and is. )
TTRP was just updated with asynchronous multiplayer through GC and other improvements. == What's New in Version 1.1 ***** ** What's New ***** • New "Multi" Online Play Experience: Game Center-based asynchronous play (iOS 5 only) a. Surprising that they would add async multiplay to the pocket version when the iPad version doesn't have it.
i was always interested in this but since i have absolutely no clue as to what it is(yup, interested in something i dunno anything about), I never bought it when it was at 99 cents.... but I've seen so many good comments about this... anyone mind explaining what this is and how its played? i might buy it if i like what it is ._. specially with the multiplayer now going live
I am very happy with what has been added here, this is a excellently presented game and has immediately joined carcassonne, ascension and disc drivin in my "Async" folder. the multitasking is great, the notifications on screen when you have moves to take in other games, all these things make this app a must buy for fans of Asynchronous online play - and I know there are many of you on this forum! However, I would like to add that a chat function would be perfect here, if the devs could add this (along with other maps as IAP), then that would make this a serious contender for carcassonne/ascensions crown!
Agree about the missing chat function, I bought this yesterday and the async works great but was a little shocked when not being able to find the chat button. Also this game looks great on a jailbroken ipad using retinapad to make use of the retina assets rather than 2x lego vision.
I agree! It's doubly puzzling given the ipad version has got chat, but no async! if you fancy a game sometime, add me on gamecenter - Scarypharaoh would be nice to challenge a fellow Welshman!!
Loving async games I bought it soon after the update, after friends of mine talked nicely about the game. I'm really liking the game, it's slick, very well done and everything but let me express something that really puzzles me and (still) keep this game a notch far from perfection (I'm talking Carcassonne perfection). 1) Why in the world the game is not universal is beyond me. I do not mind a higher price tag (many universal titles has proven to be a success and no doubt this would be) but this division prevent me to play with iPad friends now, having only an iPhone. I knew this before buying it, but it still sadden me. 2) While the AppStore description mention the iPhone version lacks additional maps and RT online play (something that's beyond me too) I found another critical thing lacking in the pocket version: ingame chat!!!!! I really thought it was there, every async game should have it (Ascension I'm looking at you). I do not want to sound harsh or something, I do love the game and appreciate many cool things (general speed, polish, slickness, proper multitasking...) I just think that adding these small things could make the game THE top async contender.
