Hey everyone! We're getting near the end of development of a new game called Tiny Rogue. It's a turn based rogue-like game that we think is pretty fun and difficult! We are hoping to submit in another couple weeks which will hopefully put us around middle of November for a release date! Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
It looks super cool!! Loved the pixelated art style. Your other games are amazing too so I'm really looking forward to play this game!
Nice, looks cool. Can you explain a bit more. How is it working mechanically, standard 1 turn rogue-like? What are the red numbers on the enemies?
Thank you for the kind words. We hope you will enjoy this game as well. Thought it would be fun to take a chance on a different type of game. The market has been tough lately, so it's been hard to work on anything but what we are best known for. Suffice to say, it was a pleasant break It's a standard 1 turn rogue-like. A couple of enemies get 2 action points so they can move twice in a single turn. The red numbers are their health. Being for mobile we choose to create a mini roguelike (hence Tiny Rogue) but it meets the roguelike requirements: Random level generation, turn based, permadeath. We did talk about that name but opted for Tiny Rogue!
Do you guys deviate from the typical formula? Or is it pretty much a standard rogue-like? Because Pixel Dungeon is already a pretty good take on the genre. I'm not sure how different this will be.
You realize Pixel Dungeon is a standard roguelike like those made really well even from way before some of us were born, right?
Haven't played Pixel Dungeon, but a quick look shows that it's got a lot more complexity to it (similiar to the original Rogue). Ours is designed to be more focused on quick rounds. Difficulty starts to really ramp up around 5-8 levels deep (30-60 seconds in or so). We've focused on keeping the game simple, fun and accessible. It's also strategic if you want to compete on the leaderboards. Not sure yet, we just finished development today. Going to start doing some compatibility testing. Game will probably require iPhone 4S and up and we will probably target iOS 7.0 and up.
Did you ever worry about the smaller screen sized rooms? I thought about something like but was afraid the rooms would be ton constricting.
As with all your games I will instabuy the freak out of this! Never been disappointed. Every one is a gem.
