What? They haven't released GTA in New Zealand? That's crazy! I've always thought that sheeps loved playing games, but I thought I was wrong...
To all the people who can't buy GTA Chinatown Wars in their countries AppStore: go and say thank you to your government. It is not R*'s fault.
Huh?? I really doubt it. Its Rockstar`s decision not to release any apps in any other country but EU and US. Why would you think any govt had any rules against their apps?
Law restrictions. Australia, for example: "Not To Be Sold To The Public" are games, that have content which promote, incite, instruct and/or depict drug use, violence, sexual activity, themes and/or any other abhorrent activity in a manner that would cause outrage and/or extreme disgust to most adults. They are not permitted to be released, distributed or sold to the public. This is NOT R*'s fault.
Thanks for the eye opener. Had no idea beaterator contains drug use, violence, sexual activity, themes and/or any other abhorrent activity Its R*`s fault! Huh? That doesnt explain R*`s absence from NZ, AUS, Singapore and Asia.
Don't forget Turkey. I'll check that and reply soon. edit: http://www.gamepolitics.com/category/topics/rockstar?page=1 http://www.valuesatplay.org/?p=104 http://www.gamepolitics.com/2008/05/05/new-zealand-illegal-for-parents-to-buy-gta-iv-for-kids GTA games aren't well accepted in these lands...
I just have to defend GTA here since the scripts for the more recent ones have been pretty good. The GTA games hae blown other games out of the water in terms of the sheer amount of story and dialogue that has been included (well, not including RPGs) And the game hardly encourages you to kill every single cop, that's Jack Thompson nonsense. If anything, the game encourages you to avoid doing anything to the cops since generally they become a huge annoyance when they're chasing you around and you're trying to get a mission done. But yeah, I can understand people not liking the game. Because at it's core, GTA is a driving game where there aren't really any goals, just a huge area to explore and roam around. The other elements of the game kind of always feel tacked on, and Rockstar has never really gotten things like combat or even character models completely right yet.
Still doesnt explain beaterator. Other than the fact that R* simply doesnt care. Too much trouble for them to get GTA out in all the countries. Why even bother when you are raking in millions from US and EU alone probably. Thankfully creating a US account and buying GTA from that account is extremely easy. So not really a big deal but still, it`s R*`s decision for not getting GTA anywhere except a few iTunes Stores IMO.
My bad. I didnt check if it`s available in AUS. But its not available in NZ and most of the Asian countries. There is still hope http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/2010/01/21/2821/asked_&_answered_red_dead_redemption_l.a._noire_rockstar_san_diego_and_more
I'm in Australia, and I bought GTA from the Australian app store. It's New Zealand where it's not released. Jeez, just because L4D2 is retarded in Australia people have a very warped perspective...
Incidentally, When I was 14 I walked into a K-Mart store (on my own) and bought GTA IV. Good times, good times.
Actually, I have a funny story about that: My Auntie, who lives in Queensland, is notorious for her Barbie which she often carries around in her handbag (as a bit of a joke, she's not insane). Anyway, one day she even made it into the newspaper, there was a whole article about her I laughed so hard.
Aurora doesn't like GTA, that alone is reason to buy it! As the TA saying goes ' If Aurora doesn't like it, it must be good' .
Here's more peer pressure for ya: I bought it! That means you should too! I know, it doesn't make any sense to me either...
