Out There wins it for me, best release of 2014 so far and better than anything released so far IMO. Hoplite? Bug Heroes 2? Bit.Trip Run!? Castle Doombad? What are those? Children games? (Note: please apply some sense of humor, Im teasing/showing how much I like it)

    FULLY AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Can't decide between Out There and Card City Nights.
    And Autumn Dynasty Warlords.

Gah, such a great week, so hard to pick :(

Liked a lot of this week's releases. My vote probably would have gone to Beyond Space, which sadly isn't getting much attention, but really is a good space shooter.

That said I haven't gotten Out There. Just doesn't sound like my type of game.

So my vote goes to Card City Nights, a fun and different -- if more casual -- card battling game.

Oops! I didn't read the rules and I voted for my own game (Mr Flap).
Please ignore my vote and forgive me for being so foolish and selfish :(

Voted for Mr. Flap. I know, I know, some of you are thinking "Another Flappy Bird clone?! What the hell, I'm tired of this already..." and honestly I was thinking the same thing until I played the game.

Out There may be the deeper experience this week but Mr. Flap is stylishly finely tuned fun, that shows how being inspired by a concept rather than outright lazily cloning it can deliver a unique twist on a common mechanic. The controls feel tight, the minimal style is nice, and the circular level design plus the level change at certain intervals is unique and visually cool

Plus the developer deserves way more attention, with some great puzzle games like ON/OFF and SEQ under his belt (seriously check those out even if you have no interest in Flap), and has been active in the forums here.

So give Mr. Flap a chance, even if you're sick of Flappylikes.

I wasn't the biggest out there fan.
This was a coin flip between one spear and card city, for me.

My gotw didn't make the poll, so I chose one spear.

Awesome game, and swerving of my vote for sure

Nice speech ! I must admit i am one of the presidents of the 'i totally cant stand flappy bird games, what on earth do people see in it' club and i did give this one a go. Granted for me personally its better than the 9923424 Flappy Bird clones out there as it is 'slightly' different.

But its still pretty basic and doesnt offer anything mind blowing, game of the week ? Think thats a bit extreme specially when its against something like Out There. Flappy games are a bit like novelty records which somehow get to #1 in the charts, in years to come you look back and think 'i cant believe i ever bought that !'.

Still its hard to please everyone and as some of the threads show we all really have a wide varied taste in games.

Well Out There is probably going to come in first regardless and I personally like to support the underdog. Actually I think continuing to classify these games as "Flappy games" kind of does a disservice to the actual games. Is Beat Drift a Super Hexagon game, since it was inspired by SH? Especially games like Mr. Flap, Flappybalt, etc., that actually do something different with the core mechanic rather than put a new skin on the same old game. They're one touch twitch games. Placing them under that shadow, seeing them as simply "Flappy games" rather than their own entities, diminishes that the devs are actually taking that core mechanic in different directions.

And idk, I think Mr. Flap is a pretty solid twitch game. I hated Flappy Bird, but I think the controls here are solid and the game's style and differences allow it to stand on its own

... Wow. With releases like AD: Warlords and Out There. Mr Flap is second in votes. My hope in humanity is completely lost.

Ok, who the heck is voting for this Mr. flap ? it's not funny....

Wait what the heck is Mr flap? It doesn't even have a link to it on the first page?

I'm guessing its a flappy bird clone? If that's the case what makes it stand out from all the other flappy clones? Maybe we should just do a poll of all the flappy games.

I guess I'd vote for the Miley Cyrus on a wrecking ball flappy just cuz if you told me that would be a game a year ago I would lol'ed myself to death.

Bronxsta explained what makes it stand out a few posts back, it's a million miles away from flappy bird. You sound pissed off that's it's getting votes it deserves to be there as much as any title on the list because people have nominated it. I always vote for the game I've enjoyed and spent the most time with each week and this time it was mr flap. The fact that it's getting votes suggest that people are enjoying it.

Got to admit after playing it, it's a great game! Much more inspired than Flappy Bird and if they had used a different name and something like a square or circle instead of a bird, people wouldn't think twice about its merits. It may not be the best of the twitch fad going on now, but it's a hell of a lot better than its' "inspiration". Recommend checking it out without the Flappy Bird prejudice.
