I guess Mage Gauntlet because it's the only one up there that I'd actually vote for because I didn't nominate IB2 due to all the problems. Doh...I forgot all about Battleheart! Oh well, I still hope Mage Gauntlet wins.
Oh bugger, this is hard... I'm torn between the top 3 on the list. Oh which to pick, which to pick...
Here's my reluctant top 10: Knighturn - turn based strategy with polished UI and good plot. Mission Europa - detailed first person shooter with good difficulty and customization, too bad multiplayer never took off. The Secret of Chateau De Moreau - a definitive iOS adventure game with compelling plot, multiple endings, and challenging puzzles. Bug Heroes - redefined dual stick shooters with larger cast of playable characters, detailed skills, and varied environments; so far peerless DSS. Aurum Blade - hack 'n slash with enemy swarms and good controls. Released with a very fair freemium set-up (that gives hope to the IAP model). Fall of Angels - polished iOS native JRPG with compelling plot. Doomsday II: Legions of Hell - Doom clone with good difficulty and that ports 300+ vintage award winning user created Doom levels, a labor of love by developers. The Bard's Tale - a polished expansive action RPG, file size be damned. Soccer Superstars 2011 - sports game with a lot of game modes and fun arcade style mechanics, improved controls. King of Dragon Pass - immersive text based strategy game. There are a lot of games that might have made the list if I could get around to playing them more (Ascendancy, Mage Gauntlet, CrimsonHeart, Ravenmark, FF3, FFT, etc). The nominations were closed a day early?!? They were already ending too early for December releases to be given fair consideration.
Oh, nominations closed already? I am still playing the games from this week and thought I'd nominate after that. I wonder if Crazy Hedgy would have made the cut if it had come out earlier. It is so good and unlike anything else I played on IOS. The first IOS game that really reminds me of console quality platformers.
MC3! Just because IB2 was designed to be played on touchscreen devices doesen't mean the gameplay is great too.
Infinity Blade 2 works great for me, so I'll vote for it MC3 is a lot of fun too, but without multiplayer it wouldn't be that good either...
I voted for Dead Space. I would've seriously considered voting for The Bards Tale had it been nominated. Mage Gauntlet, MC3, and Junk Jack are the only games that I don't have from thy list, but I'll definitely get them with my next gift card.
Um, no it closed on midnight of the 23rd. Hrrm, maybe I should have put 22nd; my fault if anyone else was confused too.
None of the games I own on the list feel goty worthy. To me at least, off that list the goty should be IB2, GTA3, or MC3. None of the others feel like they sum up the year and are a good representation of what's one of the best games on iOS. Dunno, maybe it's just me (only one game I nominated made it, and that one I didn't own (MC3), nominated since I love GL's shooters but haven't picked it up yet). Oh well. Probly will vote for MC3 since I think it sums the year up the best...
I was torn between Sworcery and Dead Space . I ultimately chose Sword and Sworcery just because of the awesome soundtrack .
Yeah, IB2 or MC3 for me. I chose MC3 though. EDIT: IMO, Junk Jack doesn't deserve GOTY, even though it is a great game.
So your GOTY is one that you haven't even bothered to play yet. You think its the best game for the year but its not worth getting. Maybe you will get it next year or you are waiting for a sale? I hope not cause I think for the IOS GOTY it should at least be worth full price.
No, I didn't say it's what I think is the GOTY. I think it's the GOTY from what is LISTED. Pretty big difference there. None of the ones I nominated where up there (and would have picked as my goty), and of the ones I own on the list (Junk Jack, Jetpack Joyride, Dead Space, Anomaly:WE) I didn't think any of those are worthy of GOTY at all...Also I never said I'd finalized it or I wasn't gonna get it...
An awesome 3D ball-rolling platformer with tight controls, fighting, exploring, jumping and damn - like anything on iOS. Amazing game.
