There are 7 games among GOTW winners in this and 3 others are the games that released before GOTW threads, so I guess GOTWs are indeed good indication.
It's because it's an awesome game! I have point way more hours into junk jack than any of the other games up for vote, because it has the fun factor down. Technically speaking, maybe it's not the biggest accomplishment, but that's not what we're going for here. It is difficult to decide though because half those games I think most people stopped playing so much a long time ago, so the most recent will be the most popular.
I voted infinity blade 2 as its on the list.My personal favourite would be Aquaria and runner up would be Avadon the black fortress, but its been a good year for games.Happy holidays to everyone.
I wholeheartedly agree - there are 5 games on the list that were actually on my nominations (yeah, shocked me too) but the one I would have voted for didn't make the list. So for that I am going to have to go for Junk Jack - I think.... I still have a few days to maybe even play some of the others again, but the huge (huge as in easily could have been an IAP but wasn't, easily could have been a new release but wasn't) recent Junk Jack update is still fresh in people's minds, they are still looking for new treasures, the game is still in full force - that probably has a lot to say about why it is leading. Replayability, unlimited scope, fun - all fresh and time sucking. The fact that it is an extremely active indie dev using a unique engine, hiccups solved and all, probably doesn't hurt either. (@kidd to kmart - unless there was a requirement that you needed to post what you voted for people could have done a vote and run - not even posted about it - those sorts of things never add up)
I was debating between Superbrothers and Junk Jack, and....Junk Jack got my vote. All of them in the list are great games, but Junk Jack was the first game of its genre that makes me like exploring, crafting and building. I was never interested in Minecraft, but Junk Jack is a whole different story. =) Not to mentioned the dev are very supportive of the game and continuously response to gamers' feedbacks/suggestions.
Must be a realllllllllly good rip-off i guess. I am definitely going to picking it up to see what the fuss is about. PS: If I have never played Minecraft, can I still enjoy Junk Jack?
Voted for Dead Space, the first true "console like game" that I truly felt and played through to the end. That game amazed me. Junk Jack is great too though, and I wish it luck!
I voted for Junk Jack. Its breadth of items to create use is brilliant. Definitely reminds me of when I first started Minecraft. I am glad to see this little indie game getting some well-deserved recognition.
I had never played any kind of Minecraft game before Junk Jack and love it - I think you might come from a better place without any expectations. It's NOT a rip off - it's its own being inspired by other games. AND it give it its own twist. People throw the words rip off around here too loosely. Rip off =/= Inspiration
This is a tough one for me since I enjoyed Battlehearts a ton (tho irritated at the lack of updates, even IAP ones), still play JJ (although endless runners aren't really my thing, this one rocks), and S&S is closest to my tastes, but Junk Jack is ahead of the curve in mobile gameplay. JJ has the potential to be my most played game of 2011 AND 2012 with just a few small updates here and there; let alone if they regularly add the amount of content they did in the last update.
I'm not gonna go and say Junk Jack doesn't deserve to win (personally from this list I think it should end up second or third, but that's me) but I will say this: It doesn't deserve to win by such a margin. It's not twice as good as MC3, or IB2, etc. I won't say I'll be mad if it wins, but if it wins by this margin I will be.
Just because it has twice or three times the number of votes doesn't mean it's twice or three times as good, it just means that more people came to the same conclusion as everyone must choose just one game to be the best. You can't rank the games, so Junk Jack is winning because the majority like it just a little more than the rest, that's all. All these games are great, that's why they're on the poll
Infinity Blade II defines iOS gaming not only being an iOS exclusive game, but also having innovative gameplay, top graphics, and loads of content and updates.
So many flips and flops in this poll already and it hasn't even been two days since the poll has been up. It's really crazy this year and it looks like Junk Jack isn't giving up it's first place spot without a fight. I feel ya buddy.
