Same. Just bought it and what a disappointment it was... Sure, nice graphics and sounds but no real gameplay.
I wouldn't say it was a disappointment as such, but of all the other ones listed, it feels the least like a... game to me. I like my games to be games, not interactive experiences, which is what I felt S&S was. That's not to say it's bad in any way, of course, don't get that impression.
You just bought it? S&S isn't supposed to have "real" gameplay. It isn't an actual game. It's an experience. A wonderful, immersive experience with exploration and adventure bursting out of its seams. S&S is supposed to make you marvel at the art and music that were carefully crafted for the game.
Wait, so if it doesn't have gameplay how is it a game? And this is 2011 Game of the year not app of the year... (i don't own it btw...)
That does not mean its an actual game. It is a game. And, it does have actual gameplay. You can fight, walk around, explore, interact with objects and NPCs, etc. Is that not gameplay? EDIT: Buy the game!
That's what I'm going off of. Your quote just before that it didn't have "real" gameplay and it wasn't an actual game....
I appreciate the amazing sounds and art, but I'm not that sort of guy who wants relaxing games. I'm 14 fo god sakes, I want games like MC3.
Okay I take my words back! I spent more time with it and after I saw the creeper coming out after I snatched the book, man, I knew it was gonna be awesome! And after 30% I'm loving it! As I know MC3 won't win, I hope Jetpack Joyride or S&S will!
Say whaaaaaatttttt? The biggest thing it did have going for it in my opinion was its charm, character, and style. The gameplay wasn't what brought me back to it; it was the funny and mysterious character it had. Whatever. The character it does have is rather odd, I'll admit.
Lol.. My favorite part of the game was when the music started in the background during the first few minutes of the game. Amazing experience. Not something I'd replay though.
S&S probably strikes a chord in most people, but like BTT, I didn't find it too interesting either. It was unique, charming and very very "out of the box"... but it just didn't appeal to me the way other games did. My take on GotY? From the choices in the poll alone, i'd give it to Jetpack Joyride or Battleheart. Battleheart reinvented iOS gaming because of its' originality; similar to Fruit Ninja, mobile games had never seen a game like this before. Unfortunately, replay value in Battleheart for me just wasn't there after a while. JJ, like Fruit Ninja, is just a heckload of fun to play. After initially unlocking everything in the game when the game was released (and also reviewing the game), I got burnt out and stopped playing it for months. I just re-installed the game a few days ago and have been stuck to it again, trying to unlock the new jetpacks and clothing items. I'll probably get sick of it again in another week but, oh what a blast it is anyways.
Which? Why? The 10 choices in the poll look just about right to me for the most part. There's nothing I'd consider not worthy of being there at least.
