Since the poll isn't a public one that shows who voted for what.

    Well that was smart.

Edit: then doesn't that make this whole award kind of pointless if anyone can cheat their way to the top? Or is there any type of security for that?

    Edit2: I'll take that as a 'yes, it's pointless.'

Looking at the TA writers' choices I now wish I had kept my original list that included Dungeon Raid on it. I should have fought harder for it to be included in this year's releases! Not sure it would have mattered much in the end but sure would be cool to see how it would have fared if nominated.

I find it hard to believe that Junk Jack got on instead of Dungeon Raid, but okay.

Btw, I also find it weird that MC3 and IB2 don't even have enough votes to outnumber Junk Jack even when you combine them both together...

Any way to remove Junk Jack from the poll.

Well that's not fair. Quite honestly though, I think this poll was doomed from the start.

I'm just as skeptical about Junk Jack winning as much as anyone else, but one thing that you can't deny is that it made it's way onto the poll fairly. If you check back to the pages with the nominations and tally them up, you will see that Junk Jack was one of the top ten most nominated games; and all the nominations were made by trustworthy members.

So like it or not, Junk Jack deserves a GOTY award as much as any other game up there.

I know there is another year till the next one of these polls. But a suggestion is to have knockouts. Like top 8 top 4 then top 2? Each week changing?

I and a few others nominated Dungeon Raid but then it was correctly pointed out to us that it was released in Nov of 2010. It didn't really pick up popularity until 2011 but I took it off my list at least cuz of that. I should have thought of the review loop hole which for the monthly list of games takes when a game was reviewed and not the month it was released as the criteria. That would have changed my list for sure if I thought of that, or looked it up or whatever.

As for the poll - it is what it is. In the long run does it matter honestly? it's fun to compile your own list; it's fun to see what others nominate and then it's fun to see how they stack up against one another. So let's just look at the results in the spirit in which the poll was created - a fun diversion for us all.

If you look at it as a fun activity perhaps we can avoid any of the strife that will occur no matter who wins.

Can mods (from behind-the-scenes) see who has voted for which option?

Perhaps that could help validate how many votes JJ has received over the other 9 worthy(-ier) contenders :p

    Exactly.

Is there really a difference between 300 people on a forum choosing GOTY and a few people choosing GOTY on the front page? Not really. In the end, all it says is that the game is deserving of a download and provides fun and entertainment. STP chose IB2 as GOTY. Do I think it deserves it? Hell-to-the-frickin no. But it was good enough for them to glorify it as the best, so I have no problems with that. Just like I'll have no problems with JJ winning this poll.

I'm sure if Jetpack Joyride or Mage Gauntlet was in the lead, the same exact thing would be said against them. So everyone, just chill out and leave the poll be what it is.

    Nope, they can not.

I voted for zenonia 4 when the poll was first put up. Now that it was taken off (perhaps because the nominations were incorrectly counted up?), is there anyway I can throw my vote towards battleheart? I love the game to death.

Going to quote his own signature:

ANY game that is in the lead will create controversy of one form or another. It's a fun poll, end of story. No matter WHO was in the lead I guarantee SOMEONE will say - are you KIDDING ME..... game X is WINNING?????

Are you confusing this poll with the Game of the Week poll?

I create awesome paper airplanes that I will sell
    Here
I don't think that's fair either. It deserves to be in the poll, there's just no way it should be winning by so much. The problem is the voters weren't made public, meaning anyone could do whatever they want, zero poster or not... and no one could possibly know... Junk Jack's a nice game, but I personally didn't get that much enjoyment out of it. Nor did I get it out of Dead Space personally. Honestly I don't think I enjoyed any of the games that much on the GOTY thing, but of course I only own 4 of them...

Edit: Looks like the post I quoted was removed...oops

Funny observation I made: It's kind of funny that everyone is outraged at how many votes Junk jack has, but NOBODY has yet to say anything about how few votes Anomaly Warzone has. I mean, come on! This was TA's runner up!
