    Hey people,

    Update:

I went ahead and synced. All my save data stayed intact which is good. The only that changed was that all the apps rearranged in alphabetical order instead of how I had them displayed. But that's really no big deal.

    Cheers! :)

    ------Original message ---------
I had a pretty bad crash on Wednesday and lost everything iTunes related.

I now have a different computer. The old one is dead. I've transfered all purchases from my phone to the library, but when I go to sync apps I get the message:

"Are you sure you want to sync applications? All existing applications and their data on the iPhone "cjsbug's iPhone" will be replaced with the applications from this iTunes library."
So my question is: If I sync, is it going to remove and reinstall the same apps, but lose all my save data?

But if I don't eventually sync I won't be able to remove any of the apps that are only viewable with spotlight.

    Nervous.

You can download applications, previously bought for free, but only up to 5 times (I think). Aside from that it will restore the music.

Don't completely take my word for this until someone backs me up, but it won't override your saved data. What it does is checks if you the apps in your library on your phone already. If it sees that you do, it'll bypass that app (why resync when it's already installed?) and check to see that you have the next one, etc. This has happened to me before (switched computers 3 times), and kept a watchful eye on the sync progress bar.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was hoping. We'll see I guess.

I made a backup just in case, so I can always restore to the backup.

Eventually I add the other remaining apps to my library that were not on my phone.

To answer your question, why resync when it's already installed?: I have downloaded few more apps on the computer and also want to remove a few that are not viewable. I'm running out of space.

True true. I'm glad I was able to grab the apps on my phone, but the thought of re-downloading the remaining 500+ is daunting. Not worried about the music, really since there's no save data. Thanks :)
