Recently my parent and family have been in the need for a new computer. After I showed my mom the iMac, she decided that we are going fully Apple. I kind of like this idea, as Apple, provides all needs. Gaming: iTouch, T.V.: Apple T.V., Computer: iMac; MacBook Pro; MacBook; MacBook Air, Phone: iPhone. They have some other accessories, but these are the main components. I find all of these things, all amazing. They all are nice and work well. Also, the smallness, and wireless things, make it a for sure win. Apple keeps on amazing me, and I think this is a good change. Face it, Windows 7 suck. No way around it, but almost everything Apple is amazing. They could improve on their leadership, and other things, but the actual products they put out are fine. And who knows, maybe the iSlate, will be even better? I find this a turn to the better, as Apple keeps on coming up with amazing things. All I can think about that they have not made, is a gaming console. Not like an iTouch, but something more like a Wii, PS3, and Xbox360. If they did, I am sure they would make an amazing one, that makes all of them look bad. We still all have the things we will keep, that aren't apple, but I think this will be a good future. Any thought, ideas, or comments?
Personally I think you're just limiting your options that way. There's no doubt Apple make some great stuff, but they can't perfect everything. It's nice to have stuff that works together and all shares connectivity, but sometimes there are just better products out there, and turning a blind eye to them would be a shame.
I love Apple. their products are engineered incredibly well..no other can beat their designs. everything so simple and..wireless. I've never had one fail computers are the fastest I've ever used, my laptop takes 30 seconds to boot up, log in, and begin using, takes literally 3 seconds to shut down. but since it isn't as widely used there are fewer..options for it. as MidianGTX said. and some people are confused with some of their products (my friend hates macbook touchpads and definitely wouldn't know how to work a magic mouse)
im just gonna say...i love macs and all for apple, but that doesnt mean there perfect. Bootcamp works...but not for everything
yeah, but if your gonna look into buying all of those, your looking around maybe 10,000 $ if you want to real nice stuff. plues monthly iphone costs
YouAllEverbody your probably not old enough to remember the Apple 2GS. They really bombed on that. However they have been quite remarkable lately.
I've been using Mac laptops for over a decade now, finally made the switch on the desktop side 3 years ago with a 24" iMac and I couldn't be happier with it. That being said, I think Apple gets praised too often as a large part of the companies userbase (fanboys) overlook obvious issues with some of their products. In my case I've been satisfied with about half the Apple products I've bought but I've had some really negative experiences as well. The keyboard on my Powerbook G4 fell apart, the first gen iPod Nano looked like it had a decades worth of use after only a few months and I've had problems with two different HD based iPods. Even the wonderful iMac has it's issues, steam builds up behind the screen on mine thankfully it can only be seen while it's off. The company has a much better track record then some of their competitors who spread themselves thin with too many crappy products but nobodies perfect, just something to keep in mind. Oh, and do your own ram upgrade. The iMac took me less then two minutes to upgrade including shut down and start up time and cost 1/4th of what Apple would have charged.
Heh, that's what first came to mind when the iPhone 3GS was announced... At least the 3GS is doing much better than the Apple III did.
you mentioned gaming, yet gaming seems to be the biggest complaint about apple computers, rather, the lack there of. what kind of games are you truly expecting to play on an apple?
I have age of empires and........ SOLITAIRE They are shit at gaming, and to get a good mac it is more expensive than an equivalent spec'd PC. My parents are getting a new desktop PC, so I'll convince them to get a gaming capable one, and i'll keep my Mac for everything else
I used to use XP with bootcamp, had no problem running new games using medium to low end settings and anything older then a year ran fine. A modern Mac certainly isn't the best option out there for a gaming machine but it's decent enough if gaming isn't a priority. I got rid of the windows partition two years ago since I've always leaned more towards consoles anyway.
