Looks like it's going to be at least one more week.. The universal update for the full game was once again canceled... We have made the changes to comply with the rejection reasons and resubmitted.. Hopefully this is going to be the last change...
In the last revision apple did not like the fact that the original game bundle contained the .exe files. That did not stop them from approving the lite as well as all past updates though. I guess it depends on the mood of the reviewer.
So if you just used a different file extension they'd be ok with it? It's not like .exe files run natively in iOS anyway.
The .exe files are not used in the game.. I guess apple thought that the game was emulating dos in order to run the files... Anyway, another update is currently in review.. They should either approve or reject it within a day or 2...
wow. i remember playing this game when it first came out on the pc. awesome. hope it gets put up soon.
It was once again rejected. This time they did not like the fact that it downloaded the data files (cleaned up) from the web. The program has been doing it since day one, but apparently the apple dev agreements changes pretty fast... We are frustrated with the way apple pulls those reasons out of their nose. - Seems like every time we comply with their rejection reason, they find a new excuse to bounce the update. Currently we are repairing yet another update. Hopefully this one will be successful
That is frustrating. I make sure to check for this one every time I open the App Store. I can't wait, and hope third (?) time's the charm!
3rd??? This will be the fifth time for this particular update! The funny thing is that exactly the same "lite" version got approved right away
Well, exe is a source now? I don't see how an open source could request that files result of a compilation of the sources is included in a distribution. I tried find the license of OpenTyrian but found not clear points. It seems released under GPL. For the files data it's even less clear.
The license in the official distro (http://sites.google.com/a/camanis.net/opentyrian/tyrian/tyrian21.zip) forbids commercial redistribution. Thus, the end users have to download the file themselves.. We are trying to get a hold of Jason Emery, who seems to be the IP holder for the title. Hopefully, we'll be able to negotiate something which complies with appstore policies.
I read on a wiki: In February 2007 the Pascal source code for Tyrian was licensed for a small group of developers to re-write it in C, in a project named OpenTyrian, licensed under the GNU General Public License. The graphics have been made available under an open license in April 2007. The zip you link is just an old version of Tyrian, last is 3.0 and I strongly doubt this zip includes the right license up to date. I wonder why you use this as the reference.
The C port, which is the base for the iphone version is for 2.1, not 3.0 (Tyrian 2000).. Therefore it is incompatible with 3.0 data files.... Yes they actually changed the format, and there is no documentation available...
man good luck. i check the app store everyday hoping for the update to be released. i can sense your fustration as a developer but i hope you don't give up trying to get Tyrian back in the store.
