If the external portion of the ear suffers a blow, a blood clot or other fluid may collect under the perichondrium. This separates the cartilage from the overlying perichondrium that is its source of nutrients, causing the cartilage to die. This leads to a formation of fibrous tissue in the overlying skin. When this happens, the outer ear becomes permanently swollen and deformed, resembling a cauliflower. Headgear that protects the ears is worn in wrestling and rugby (where it is called a "scrum cap"), many martial arts, and other contact sports to help prevent this condition. Well..... Frank Mir and Shane Carwin are facing off at UFC111 on March 27th for the Interim belt... Lesnar will get the winner whenever/if he get's healthy....

I heard someone try to say the ref was wrong for stopping the fight, I spat my beer all over the bar top and was in shock.....
I think Mir is talented, I really do, but I would really like to see Carwin take that one. How many times is Dana White prepared to let Frank get his face broken by Brock? Seriously though, I doubt even Carwins gonna pose much of a threat to Lesnar. That is if the "illness" hasn't withered him away to the size of Nate Diaz!!!
Well I met Carwin and he is a BEAST. Frank Mir got Lesnar the first time and I think he will get him again if they match up, however it won't happen because Carwin will put him down. Mir looks a lot better at 265, he is muscular as all hell.
I'm not a Lesnar band wagon rider, but he did lose in grand fashion. Frank looked sheerly broken then, the rematch is one of the most brutal beatdowns in MMA history. But, all things on paper, they are 1-1. You are right Carwins a beast. I've just not seen any talent that will continue to be a threat as long as Brock is healthy and progressive. Time will tell, and I hope I'm watching Lesnar v. Carwin live soon

I'm not a big C.Kongo fan, but credit where due the dude has some impressive, dominant wins in his career. So, where do you see the Mir-Carwin fight ending up? I think a focused Mir is highly skilled, and Carwins ground game is as impressive to me as Mir's.
Mir has the far superior bjj, if you watch some of the foortage he's down right and amazing grappler, but carwin has the stand up of an animal. It'll be a slugfest and someone is going to get caught on the chin, because of how cool carwin is, I hope it's him, but Mir is a talented guy and even though he talks a lot of crap he backs it up. It's the most exciting fight coming up in the near future.
This is (somewhat) off-topic, but in UFC Undisputed 2009, you can actually give your character a cauliflower ear, or just make the ear flat. The flat one had my sister grossing out when we played it. xD
I just recently got the game, I didn't get it because I didn't want to be called a bandwagon jumper, however it was given to me.... and I like it. I have only played 2 or 3 times but damn it's fun. I'm going to have to try and create myself, of course I'll have to be crappy at MT, but I should get pretty good numbers in my boxing and bjj. oh and my ears to this point have remained human like so I won't have to use the messed up ears function.....
