So today I was running a contest on twitter to give away some of my favorite Indie games. I've had to stop the contest in the middle because after gifting two apps to winners iTunes stopped accepting my bank card. I was told my Credit Card was declined but after calling my bank they said everything is fine and that they never got a request for funds Here's an image of the message I got http://img.ly/1n5C I did several searches and found discussions by VERY angry people but no remedies. Personal purchases work like always but Gifting is what is causing the problem Anyone gone through this?
It wasn't hacked. I can buy things for myself but I can't gift anything. Others have had this problem with iTunes as well but I haven't found info on fixing it. It's just saying my card is declined even though it doesn't even attempt to get the funds from my bank account
This was one of the many problems we ran into during our gifting promotion. Few things to try: 1. Wait an hour. Try again. I think Apple may be locking the account if there are too many micro-transactions going through at once. 2. If it still fails, call your credit card one more time to make sure they're not locking your card for fraud alerts. 3. If everything is still fine with the card, get in touch with Apple support. You can chat live with someone from their support site, and they should be able to fix the problem for you.
The display of "@@accountKindDisplayName@@" looks a lot like they're having trouble with their database, since that line is supposed to display the type of field it's expecting you to enter. Instead, it's displaying the variable name for that field, which is a dead giveaway for "Oops, our SQL database got drunk and vomited all over the floor."
I started having the issue about 7 hours ago (in the middle of the contest) and have been checking in every hour hoping it was just an issue. I can still buy games for myself so it can't be a card issue cause it's only affecting gifts. I thought that since I had gifted a few different games in such a short timeframe it might have timed me out but I think that contacting support is going to be my best bet. Thanks for the reply natty!
