chillingo should learn how to promote a game.they start hyping a game and then after a period of 12-16 months release that game!
I've sorta forgotten about this game, Chillingo needs to release it before we all forget about it....
they just changed the picture for vampire origin's coming soon icon on chillingo's front page... and they did say it was coming out in the fall
Where is this game? It looks awesome and on Chillingo's site it says that it's an upcoming game, but really, where is it Chillingo??
i'm personally expecting a late november release. but obviously nobody has any clue whatsoever. maybe a bunch of us should e-mail chillingo showing how interested we are and they'll throw us a bone.
Actually...of those three arta...Vampire Origins looks the more intuitive. What's more intuitive than touching to move and tapping enemies to shoot? It also looks more...elegant. Gameloft relies on really unnecessary onscreen virtual dpads and buttons way too much. Is it as "fluid"? Depends on what you mean by "fluid". Certainly being able to see the entire screen because your thumbs don't constantly need to be hovering over onscreen virtual controls, nor your view blocked by them should prove better in terms of combat and solving puzzles. I mean...honestly...what's the beef here, exactly? And what do those vids prove other than Gameloft, like too many other devs, using virtual controls as a crutch. That some gamers here don't "get" so-called "alternative" methods speaks less about the quality of said methods and more the difficulty in coming to grips with something different from the norm or something that they haven't been conditioned to as the case is with dpads and face buttons (after all, you do know that there were some Atari era gamers who looked strangely at the NES controller, right?). I mean, as much as people ranted about Underworlds needing a virtual dpad, I find myself going back to the "tap to move" control as it works better, IMO.
Oh, and i know arta's post was from almost a month ago, but if anything that just shows how long this topic has been buried under new ones. I didn't even remember this game. What gives? Is there any new news on it?
yes i agree.D-pad is not suited for iphone.look at games like samurai, real racing and spider.......alternative controls are what makes these games great.Even gameloft's modern combat game's control option 2 was great (even though it wasn't perfect). That worked better than any other psp FPS game i ever played.I have now come to believe that alternative controls if implemented properly would work better than d-pads on psps.Sure it will never be as good as wii controls or keyboard/mouse but it has the potential to be better than all other controls out there.the only thing is the devs have to implement it right. Some already have and more will in the coming days/months
I think it's now vapourware. Usually companies don't announce the status until like months or years later, or never.
I personally think that they'll release more details when it nears completion (although it should be... this was announced like last year...). Remember what happened to Rogue Planet though? It was announced, then it just dropped off the face of the planet for a while. It then resurfaced close to release, and turned out to be an AMAZING experience (I love that game). Hopefully it's the same story with Vampire Origins, but with the amount of time it's been since any news has arisn, I really don't know.
