lol i love people that cry about the originality of gameloft, so my question is what games would u be playing if gameloft wast around? they make high quality clones of fun games that probably wont even be made for the iphone, stop crying aobut their "originality" and just play

I like gameloft. I wish other developers would create games for the idevices so we wouldn't have to live with just clones. But since no-one else is at this time I think Gameloft is great. I have almost all of their games and they are my favorite to play. I just hope they make sequels to some of their earlier games. (I.E. Hero of Sparta)

I love guys that post in threads, bt their post has nothing to do with the thread topic. Stop crying about other peoples opinions, and just keep true to your own.

Lemme see, I would be playing Minigore, Alive 4 Ever, Doodle Jump, Rolando, Rolando 2, Myst, Zenonia, Star Defense, Madden 10....amongst the thousands of games made by Dev's who do not clone. However, I will state once again, I do enjoy Gameloft titles.

    Australia, mate!
Well, if the other big name developers aren't going to bring their franchises onto the iPhone, then Gameloft will!

Yeah, actually I'm a lot more stuck on (semi) original games like Alive 4 ever, Samurai, and soon Hybrid.

(and I bought Gameloft latest titles, indeed, but they were left apart 2 Hours after first game).

I don't think people have too many problems with the actual games. They are usually polished enough, look pretty, and play alright. It's just that with the same money and time they could have made a setting and characters that aren't a clone of others more original work. Again it's not that Blades of Fury is a Soul Calibur type fighting game. It's that instead of allowing the developers to create original characters, they forced them to do "something like Voldo, and Ivy" etc.

It's not that the games aren't fun, and the design isn't ok. Just people wonder why Gameloft doesn't think their time and resources and create something that when people look at it they know it's Gameloft and not..."Is that Soul Calibur?!" You know what I mean? They wouldn't get half the flak they get if they just made their games visually their own.

But as far as I am concerned, I don't really care too much. It's a lost chance, but it fills a void in the genres. I agree that it would be really nice if they just made their own games though instead of piggybacking off others success.

While I agree with some of the things in your post, I definately don't agree with your last comment "it would be better"

    It's a love-hate relationship for me.

Amazing artists, awful story writers, great programmers, f*cking horrible voice actors.

Gameloft is giving games we want to see on the iDevice but it will never happen.
Exampel: Castle of Magic is a filler for Mario since we will never see it.

Gameloft also made NFL 2010, which was a filler for me until Madden came out.
    Get what i"m going at?

To me Gameloft makes game clones of home systems we want to see on the idevice, or fillers until one of those home system games actually comes out.

I like Gameloft but lets's face it. Eventually the games that they are copying will be coming out for the iPhone one day. They are making big bucks right now but it won't last forever. I thank them for coming out with moderately good games at reasonable prices and that they are the first to truly adapt console games on the touch interface. That being said, their games seems to have no soul. You skip by the storyline to get to the action. Modern Combat had quality voice acting but no plot.

i agree with LBG and friends, hahahaha
most of the "original" games were made 20 or 30 yrs ago. and the following games, used ideas from the "original" and just add some more flavors on it,and that flow continues
Genres are based on the original game with the same theme, like GTA,they started that kind of game.Mario started side-scroller games. So like they said, originality nowadays is indefinite

anyweiz, what i want to see is a partnership of Marc Ecko Entertainment and Gameloft
imagine playing a game on our iDevices
a game with Dexter's graphics, contents, depth and Gameloft Games' effectiveness of controls, smooth framerate, and short wait.
that would be the best thing that would happen to my iPhone
    hahahahahahah

    Quick example-

GTA- Great graphics, gameplay, and MEMORABLE STORY AND CHARACTERS

Gangstar- Stereo typed "gangster names", Cardboard cookie cutter characters with extremely stilted dialogue. cliche-generic story, ZERO additions to the formula. Even CJS added "something".

    GAMELOFT GAMES ARE HOLLOW.

Folks, the alternative to getting these bigger games from Gameloft have been

    - weaksauce condescending mockups like Metal Gear Solid Duckhunt Touch or Mass Effect Pinball Galaxy,

    - cheap, rushed and broken ports like Silent Scope and Megaman,

    - earnest attempts at duplicating beefier gameplay experiences by smaller devs who end up not having the resources to bring a full, polished experience in the end, like Underworlds, Minigore and the myriad of games where you get little pieces every few months as they build it.

So what they are doing HAS to be applauded. It takes BALLS to do all this stuff when the majority of indie devs and monkey-see-monkey-do game site editors were waxing philosophical about "making games to the strength of the platform" to justify their shoddy tilt bubble gum farm games or whatever. Thank Gameloft for their proof of concept that ends up as deep, polished, fun games, and hope everyone else gets off the bench.
