Yeah, but at least you don't have to carry around a 360 to play Modern Warfare. That's why they sell, even though most of their games have nothing to add, it's better than nothing.
I agree with this statement 100%. They are all cheap cliche games. Though I have played MC:S and Blades of Fury.
and plz point out to me where i was crying? i opened with lol (laughing out loud). but just for you, I like gameloft. happy now?
I'm actually hoping for a mortal combat from gameloft. If nobody else can do it then gameloft might as well.
Exactly. There are companies that could make use of their resources and IP to put a game on the iDevice platform, but they won't (Mario, etc, whatever type cloned by Gameloft). So Gameloft is the one that will deliver for us. Take-Two didn't even decide to make GTA until Gameloft's Gangster was relatively successful.
Don't let the pspfanboys hear you say that Rolando and Rolando 2 is not a clone? Well i guess it is loco roco that cloned rolando!
God.......dammit! I thought we got over this argument last time, and, oh god, it's release day all over again!
I hate Gameloft. They keep on releasing soulless rubbish that rips off other games. Fair enough - licenses are expensive, but their games are full of cliches (as in gaming ones) and aren't inventive at all. They also get too much praise and attention when indie devs bring out far superior games - Meteor Blitz and iBlast Moki are better than any Gameloft efforts. Did I mention Gameloft price their games too high? I'm not being a cheap freak but it comparison to other games their games are not good value for money. [/rant] [fanboy-shield-activated]
I believe there is a slight misunderstanding of the word "quality" on these forums. The graphic artifacts left in sandstorm, really show the "quality" and "polish" of their titles. The whole title just stinks of a low brow cash grab. I bought it in an attempt to give the company the benefit of the doubt. After playing it,...they still suck. I thought I was having a seizure my eyes were rolling so much. Again...."Modern" combat, yet with all iron sights? I mean the whole games based around that one element. And while that is a sweet gameplay addition, it's just no fun shooting wooden targets. I really expected a lot seeing as how it gets near unanimous praise, but as usual I should just trust my gut and not buy gameloft games.
Seriously, nobody has come close to delivering a full bodied, polished RPG in the Appstore, not even Underworlds touches it. Are we supposed to wait while indie devs give us levels every 6 months? How about the polished FPS experience we never had before? Folks used to say that was impossible. How about the fighting genre, which EVERYONE has cocked up before BoF came out? How about making a fully featured 3D roaming game, again something that everyone has shied away from saying it couldn't be done or done well, resulting in the only devs with any sort of balls still giving us overhead washout copies? And all this happens so that you can put these deep polished experiences LITERALLY alongside your Toki Tori's, your Casters, your Arkends and what have you. And folks are COMPLAINING? It's the most illogical thing I've ever read on these forums.
Not complaining so much about the games anymore. It's more peoples reaction to the games that pisses me off. "OMFG DUNGEON HUNTER IS SO BALLZ!!!" "HIGH QUALITY, POLISHED GAMEPLAY, WITH GREAT GRAPHICS!!!. I get mad for the simple fact that subjectively, that is to say in my opinion, is not true. "It's great because theres nothing better" is also a REALLY lame argument. I'm complaining because their games ATTEMPT to emulate the greats, only to be utterly and entirely disappointing on any review scale, not limited to the hardware. EDIT: Further more the sentiment that GAMELOFT could make a decent RPG is laughable. Well I guess as long as they avoid ANY story what so ever.
Let me get this straight, le'deuche: you get mad because people happen to like something that you don't? That's no way to go through life, my friend -- in fact, it's a recipe for an early-age heart attack. I like Samurai, probably as much as you do. I love iBlast Moki. Meteor Blitz rocks my world. I also happen to like Dungeon Hunter a heck of a lot. Action RPGs are not know for the depth of their storytelling (I mean, do you remember what Diablo was about, besides killing monsters and looting treasure?). As it happens, DH has a thin but decent story to it. Obviously it doesn't have the depth of a Diablo II or a Dungeon Siege, but it's actually very well designed for a handheld platform, allowing for easy pick-up-and-play in a genre that's usually not known for it. Oh, and not to be a contrarian , but it has HIGH QUALITY, POLISHED GAMEPLAY, WITH GREAT GRAPHICS [emphasis yours]. It's also much less of a Diablo clone than an attempt to create their own (derivative) action RPG franchise on the iPhone. I think it succeeds pretty well at that. Not that you care, since you made up your mind about the game when you saw who publishes it.
well the fact that you think its laughable that gameloft could make a decent rpg is funny... ur posting in a 6 page long thread(and also there is a 400+ long one) on a game that has been pulled, im pretty sure gameloft can live without ur $7, but i will be buying this the second it hits the store again because it looks fantastic
The best games on the iPhone seem to be the 2D physics puzzlers in my opinion, so far almost every single game that takes place in three dimensions has issues with the controls somewhere... Gameloft do a lot of those, and sure, the controls may be better than other 3D games, but that still doesn't make them great.
I'm kind of torn between both sides in this argument. I think l'deuche made a valid point about people having different interpretations of "quality" and "polish". I think the greatest attribute of MC:S were the controls. The graphics were ok, the story... well I think that's self-explanatory, and I'm a little disappointed/curious/exasperated (some combination of the three) at the lack of Modern weapons. I think it's an impressive game for the device... but I don't really view it as being polished. With that said, without Gameloft I wouldn't be playing BoF. I think this might actually be their most blatant rip-off.. but at the end of the day I like it, have fun playing it, and am glad it is available on my phone. I do think however that in the long run, Gameloft is a very good thing for the iphone. Someone pointed out that before MC:S we weren't entirely sure if a FPS could work on the idevice. More so with BoF. I think this a good proof of concept for ambitious games on this platform. Gameloft has been making a lot of money with these recent titles and the other big boys are going to have to take notice. It's only been a little over a year since the advent of the appstore and I'm hoping that there are still some heavyweight devs that are going to be coming late to the party.
