Okay, i'll say it, there needs to be something like F.E.A.R. on the iPhone. Might not be the scariest thing, but that seems to be the only thing missing. I don't own most of the games in the poll, but i have played some of them if that counts. Edit: And how is Hysteria anyways?
Hysteria sucks. Just some random buttonpressing, and if you press the wrong one it gets you to the beginning.. i never played hysteria longer than half a minute.
+1 F.E.A.R 1 & 2 were both pretty scary really. Though I have to say that Condemned 1 & 2 (by the same Dev) was definatey more creepy.
I think all DS effects games are scary because of their frighteningly low production values and their demented graphics.
Yeah, the second seemed less scary, but they're both pretty scary. Mind you, i don't actually own it, but i've had enough experience with it before. Offices never seemed the same, and i disliked dark corners for a while IMHO though, Bioshock was creepier than both, mainly because of the atmosphere.
Mystique would get my vote for the iPhone. F.E.A.R. for PC was pretty creepy for the first half, but then it just degenerated into a standard FPS and dropped any pretence of trying to scare you. On the other hand, Penumbra for PC was pretty damn creepy, and it never devolved into a straight shooter. That one was all about stealth, exploration and puzzles with bits of intense threat and featuring some pretty damn good atmosphere.
Where's DOOM Resurrection? That still scares me every time I play it! And when you put around ear head-phones on, it only makes the suspense worse.. It's a really good game though.
Haha it freaked me out too, like when you hear the groans behind you before you get turned around! Then I got the shotgun! It's fun turning around, blindfiring, and killin em now!
