    - A bigger screen
    - longer battery life (by at least 5 or 6 hours)
    - A tangible button and D-pad set that the iPod plugs into.
    - Larger name titles (Halo, Mario, COD, etc)

Apple could just make a case with external controls and a built in external battery and fix all these complaints

As great as it would be for apple to add a whole bunch of gaming features, these things are more than just gaming devices so i doubt they will add much to improve gaming besides better graphics/longer battery life

I might be able to see it work if they sold two different models, one for gaming, and one for everyday use. Same specs, same hardware, just a different design, and it'd give every developer just one set of buttons to work with, as opposed to a wave of 3rd party controllers. Seems like it'd be against Apple's form policy. Nothing made by them slides.

Well to me it is a good compromise as far as the battery life is concerned with the current devices. I like to have a super lightweight, thin, device that fits very well in my pocket. You can buy yourself one of those extra power cases if you really needed that extra power. For me, I prefer to have both options. Maybe Apple can make an official battery case, but then, what good does it do when the 3rd parties are already doing a decent job at it?

Nintendo is worth $20 billion. Hardly an easy purchase.

In any case, Nintendo will sell to no one for two reasons

    1) Hiroshi Yamauchi aka former president aka largest shareholder aka immortal vengeful spirit would rather perform seppuku than sell out. If you have not heard of the man, he is basically the most stubborn being to ever exist and makes Caesar look saintly with regards to tyranny.

    2) Nintendo likes and indeeds prospers from the fact they are completely in control of their operations. Nintendo's hardware and software development is handled as one, which is why their hardware suits their wares perfectly out of the door. If another party is involved in the decision of hardware it basically kills what Nintendo is about.

    THE DS? GTFO!

GameBoy Color will forever remain the handheld king. And even the PSP dominates the DSs ass. The DS is terrible.

I guess that'd make sense if the DS hadn't sold over 125 million units more than the PSP.

For Apple to become the handheld king, they need to release a handheld gaming device, which they haven't... and I'm pretty sure they don't really want to either.

I just want longer lasting battery life and maybe buttons? But that's probably not what Apple wants...

by at least 5 or 6 hours? they dont have a weak battery because they think its funny their hasnt been new battery technology for 30 years they just cant stick a better battery in there and go 'oh should have thought of that earler' that is the holy grail in technology right now to make a completely differnt battery for our gadgets and new electric cars most of the world is working on it and untill that comes out this is what we have because apple will never make a thicker device to fit a thicker battery for a minimal gain in life (at least i hope not) there are some network holes that could get pluged like the ones talked about here but i doubt that will make a difference in gaming.

    and mario and halo

This is a Nokia E72 battery. BP-4L. Rated at 1500mah. An E72 is 10mm thick, 128g inclusive battery.

This is an ipod touch 3g battery. 789mah by calculation. An iPod Touch is 8.5mm thick, 115g.

I do believe that Apple have the means to at least increase battery capacity, if they want to.

...remove the 3g from the market.

as long many people still have a 3g with lower processor-power, lower memory and opengl 1.0, most developers still concentrate on 3g instead of 3gs.

battery-life can be purchased with additional battery-packs, so that's not really the prob and also can not be solved with todays technqiue, maybe 30-60 minutes more with a better battery and some more mAh, but that's it.... the device is just too small for a real powerfull battery.
