    Hi there,

Just a heads up to those who, as me, suffered the loss of iOS7 notifications preview in WhatsApp. The latest version of WhatsApp doesn't allow the preview of notifications, showing you ony "Message from XXXXXX" an forcing you to open WhatsApp. From the company, they say it's an iOS7 issue and notifications will never come back.

The only solution I found is to roll back to WhatsApp version 2.12.3 (from mid-June), where notification previews work just great. The only time you see "message from XXXXXX" is when a contact sends you a message for the first time. After that, all the previews are correct.

Finally, if you don't want the "update" label to appear in the App Store, you have to remove some lines from the PLIST archive of WhatsApp in the installation folder, the ones that talk about the version history. Once done that, you have your WhatsApp on iPhone and it doesn't show the "update" in the App Store app.

Sure, iOS7 is old and has bugs, but we shouldn't lose functionality from our apps as they get updated... Anyway, hope this helps to those who suffered the problem as me.

They have used iOS8+ only API's to make Whatsapp more secure.

Unless you cant update to iOS8 due to device limitations, the only solution should be to upgrade your iOS version.

Performance of iOS 7.1.2 on a 4S is way better than iOS8/9. That's the main reason.

This implies upgrading my device, which also implies having money to do so. Since I don't have money to do so, the rest of the equation fails...
