Luckily for me I got my first iPod touch right when the App Store was picking up, so I've been following all the app releases from the very beginning. Since I won't be getting an iPad until much later though, I'm wondering what it was like for those of you who didn't join the iPhone app craze until way after the App store first launched?
seems like your content doesnt match your title? but, June 3rd 2009. Couldnt touch it for 2 days tho..
July 2009. The first game I bought was hero of Sparta. It's amazing how far it's come since just then.
April.....1977. Always been way ahead of my time. Actually was just shortly after iTunes opened, maybe a couple months. Started out with the little Shuffle for tunes. Then wanted something with a screen so got the Nano. Seen the 3 games it had to offer. So got the Touch and at that time I had little idea of the great potential it held. All of the above took place within 3 weeks, I believe.
I believe I ordered it on July '08, and got it late July or early August same year. It was when I got my Macbook Pro (which is still going strong). Apple had a "buy a Macbook (or Pro) and get an iPod touch free!" deal going on in the Apple student store. Macbook Pro + free printer + free iPod touch 8GB. Just an all around great deal, IMHO.
Samesies. The AppStore has just been opened, all apps were $10, Krash Kart the shit, and Venger was a state-of-the-art game.
Original iPhone: October 2007 iPhone 3G: Day of release 2008* *Stood in line at this AT&T store just down the street from my office for over two hours because they had to activate in store. The Apple Store down the street had a much worse line so I picked AT&T. Will never do that again . PS - People started standing in line the day before, at the San Francisco Apple Store. Crazy...
Yeah, I really don't understand why people camp outside stores for hours, sometimes days to buy something. When all you have to do is wait a couple days and that way you avoid all of the discomfort, pain and boredom of waiting outside a store for ages.
I really should have waited. The thing was my girlfriend and I were the last ones in line that got the hardware (both black versions as all the white ones were gone). Everyone else behind us either had to take a rain check ($25 down for them to hold the device) or leave empty handed. They estimated it would be about a week before a new shipment came in. People were pissed and I would have been too. However throughout the time we stood there the AT&T reps came out passing out bottled water (it was hot out) and treats from time to time. I didn't expect that.
December 2009. It took me a while to get to grips with the games and such on the iPhone, but thankfully, I joined just when the good games began coming out and the iPhone had become big enough for big name developers to take more notice and put more time into their games.
