Amen to that! They make zombie games around the same entertainment value of a knock knock joke... It gets a couple of groans at best...
- Doodle games, except for the initial few where it was still an original idea - Games that pointlessly start with 'A' to cheat the search engine (as in 'A Ninja War' or 'A Zombie Shoot') - Star Blaster England! Star Blaster New Zealand! Star Blaster Czech Republic! Star Blaster Canada! - People using the word 'Addictive' to define an App's overall quality (ie, Asking how addictive a game is instead of how FUN a game is) - Devs doing the same. "WARNING : HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!!!" and "WARNING : EVEN MORE ADDICTIVE THAN OTHER APPS!!!" - Putting spam in a games' title (see above) - Blatant copyright stealing, and Apple allowing it - (The single-level high score game genre in general, but that's just me.) - Lite Versions!!! Implement a proper game demo system already, Apple!
I don't mind text mmo's but these endless 32 reward points etc are annoying... Zombie is overused. I'm sickk of seeing Angry Birds all the time...
I'm sick of pseudo beat-em-ups, too. Meaning, beat-em-ups where the developer thinks all it a beat-em-up needs is you to press the button repeatedly and that's it (no attention put into hit-stun options, moves with different properties and speeds, timing, etc).
Well we are doing this to show devs what most people dislike so that way they don't assume that everyone likes "Kill teh Zombeh for teh Thouszand Time!!!". So actually this is helping the devs as well as us.
But the point is for every person that dislikes something there is probably two or more that like it so developers will still make the game that they want to make and customers will still buy the game that they want to buy
+1 for sick of zombie games. That whole theme has been waaaay overused. Every mediocre developer seems to think they're going to hit zombie jackpot gold, but the app store is oversaturated with zombie games--> they all seem to blend together, and very few really stand out.
^ Exactly my point... I swear at least 50% of the games on the app store has zombies in it, you would need at least 100 grand to buy them all. >_< (If you wanted to that is...)
Yes like a zombie plague, lol. Didnt realize I walked into that one til after I posted. You're thinking along the same lines as I am. Of all the zombie games there is on the App Store, a whole bunch of them are starting to copy the 'cute' Plants vs Zombies cartoony look. I wish it wouldnt be like this, because trends always show there will be more of a type if it's popular. Having said that, it's taking away any possibility of a true survival horror kind of game for the iPhone. Granted there are some real good ones, but I would love to see an iPhone version of Silent Hill (not the poor one they already have but rather a console port or something), Resident Evil (only the original first 3 on ps1 were really good), Penumbra, Clock Tower, etc. For the record, I have PvZ, Zombie Smash, and Monster Mayhem. So I'm not against zombie games per se. I just get bothered when I'm app shopping and 6 out of the top 10 has something to do with zombie farms, doodle zombies, zombie wars, zombie invasions, etc. Not saying it isn't possible, just that developers tend to put their energy in places that players are and focus there.
Zombie games are way too obviously the answer here. Second place is so far away that there isn't a second place. Without Zombies games listed as an option, this poll is worthless
The love and hatred for zombie games is too evenly divided. You hear quite a few people saying they hate zombie games, but usually when they release one its always at the top of the forums, as one of the most talked about games. Example... Resident Evils, Zombie Infection, Infection: Zombies, Zombie Wonderland... and the list goes on and on. If so many people hate them then why are so many people praisiing them and paying attention to them. Posting about them, buying them. I was going to include it on the list, but I didn't. Too evenly divided. I think what most people are sick of seeing is the word "zombie" used in the titles.
I have to agree with him...the art work was poorly done. I was pissed, and expected better. Back on topic: I HATE doodle games, they are the cancer of the appstore. It spreads like cancer mixed with an STD mixed with a strong catalyst.
