"Truly contested" is a misleading phrase, because most people stop contesting a #1 spot in a game with complex controls (e.g. such as CSO one, which was too hard for me before the last update). For example, Space Ninja wouldn't be considered "truly" contested, but that's only because most people give up too quickly. Wootbean reportedly beat the whole game and had about 300 medals at one point (the dev described him as "seriously ninja"), whereas many people get stuck somewhere between levels 10-20.
I remember first seeing your tag (who could forget that) in #1 after it had already been out a while, and then seeing your tag again in the forums. Despite many adjustments to the controls, I could never manage any acceptable degree of precision. The hardest part of that game for me was returning the left thumb to baseline after turning, although I'm sure those capable of venturing further got to experience all the hellishness on offer by the best games of the genre.
Yeah it takes a little getting used to Sadly the games downfall was it's steep learning curve, and buggy initial release. Still a classic for some of us.
