I am a current iPhone 3GS owner. I am deciding if I should get a Palm Pre and end my times here at TouchArcade. So should I end my AT&T account and move on to the Palm Pre.

I have a pre and love it. I have social connections on my pre, and entertainment on my ipod touch. It is actually cheeper to have an ipod touch and a pre with the unlimited monthly contract than it is have a 3GS. I love my pre and get great coverage, however, my AT&T counterparts, aren't too happy about coverage.

Any cellular carrier is going to have anecdotal stories of coverage. I get magnificent AT&T coverage inside my house, a friend with a Nextel/Sprint phone barely gets one bar. You can't really trust coverage maps or the experiences of others, because you could be unlucky enough to spend most of your day in what just so happens to be a dead zone for your carrier.

Back in the day I wanted a T-Mo Sidekick something fierce, but sitting at my desk where I spent 40 hours a week I had absolutely no coverage.

Well, also things around you like Glass, metal etc... can interfer with the Cellular Signal and may interfer thus making you get less bars. So if the friend of yours went out side he could get 2+ bars....So there is many other factors. I have AT&T and I have about 3 bars or more where ever I go. But when I go to my local supermarket I have no bars cause like I said the metal and things. When I step out side of my local supermarket I get 3+ bars...

If you are seriously considering switching to the pre because of money:
    1. Why did you upgrade or move to AT&T for the 3GS?
    2. How could you afford the iphone in the first place?

Oh and why would you leave the site? I would assume that you would still have the 3GS for gaming.

And lastly I am not sure of your issues about coverage, it is pretty good in the south. I drove all the way from TN to TX and I to my knowledge never was without service. That's pretty good.
