We got the kids a Wii U last Christmas, thinking they'd love the more kid friendly games [I have an xbox 360, not very many kid friendly games, at least decent ones, on there] - it ended up gathering dust unfortunately :/ they just didn't get into it .... Until Now! Got Mario Kart 8 for our youngest's 6th birthday last month, and it's breathed new life into the wii U. It gets played a lot now, we all love that game It's also gotten them to play the games they overlooked previously. I'm eyeing Bayonetta 2 myself, and would dearly love if Ocarina of time happened to get a proper Wii U port! because it's the best game ever made, period!
My god, Bayonetta 2 is spectacular. I downloaded the demo and played it on the GamePad screen, and holy sh*t the visuals are crazy, even on that. Usually the GamePad screen gets plagued with jaggies (a la Hyrule Warriors) but with Bayonetta 2 it's super crisp, and I'm pretty sure it's 60 fps. Spoiler The giant demon dog aerial battle is especially amazing

Beat Hyrule Warriors today. Been putting off that ganon fight for days now. Disappointing ending but oh well I enjoyed the game. Anyone get that Mario Kart expansion w/ Link and Hyrule tracks? Wondering if it's worth it. Gotta get smash bros soon but also Toad Treasure Tracker looks like it's gonna make it to my system as well. I sure wish Dragon Age : Inquisition would make its way to the Wii U I could buy it on PS3 (no Ps4 yet) but I dunno...
Finally got my Smash and Link Amiibo preorder from Toys R Us. Loving Smash and the Amiibo looks cooler then I thought it would.
Bought the WiiU 32 Gb with Super Mario, NintendoLand, Super Smash Bros and Donkey Kong for my kids for Xmas. Bestbuy had(s) a special on it.
Wow, that is a crazy good deal. Wish I had waited and bought that instead of buying the MK8 bundle a few weeks ago
A big reason that i got the Wii U was for Super Smash Bros for the kids. It only comes with the one controller. Will my old Wii controllers work, or my older corded controllers work? I guess there is a game controller adapter for the old N64 controllers - sold out apparently. Are these necessary or does the Wii U have at least 1or 2 ports like the Wii had for the controllers? What are people doing for SSB for competition play between people in the same house?
Your old wii motes will work fine for the U. By the corded controllers do you mean the ones that plug into the wii remote, if so I do believe the classic controllers work. As for that adapter, thats only if you want to use your old gamecube controllers with it, not necessary at all, some people just have the preference. As for smash it support the wii remotes, gamepad, classic controllers, gamecube controllers, pro controllers, and even the 3ds if you own a copy of smash for it. All in all you should be good to go, the wii u takes advantage of alot of the wii's periphials. To answer your other question the wii does have usb ports but controllers nowadays are wireless and don't really use them other than for charging. I feel like I explained everything strangely, I hope everything is clear haha
@Fireball - got it! Thanks so much. I have GameCube, Classic, and Wii controllers. Should be set. I might even get the 3DS version, as I am a big 3ds gamer.
So I just bought a Wii U off Ebay, won't be opening it until Christmas since it's for my kids. It comes with Super Mario 3d World. I am struggling to choose between Smash or Mario Kart as the second game, any suggestions?
