Does DS support multi -touch? You don't need buttons for the games you mention. You keep on dodging every argument and in turn making another flawed argument.
I'd rather have a mechanic that was smartly designed for a handheld that just a control option that just does not work. Again, FPS's are not good for handhelds.
And why the hell would you need multi-touch for a game where you are just basically tapping on stuff? Just stop it dude, you are failing miserably to counter argument anything I say. These threads are hilarious. It just shows how insecure some of the iPhone games are.
Haha, this is what you call an argument. I can't win this so I'm just going to say all of them are no good Nice work kid!
Are you confident that anyone reading this thread aside from your mom will agree that it is I who is failing miserably? You are hilarious kid, totally!
Maybe so, but at this point, the touch screen provides the best potential for descent FPS control because of the ability to make a virtual dual stick setup. Controls aside, going all the way back to the original point of this thread, iPhone gaming provides something that a PSP and DS will never be able to do. Adult gamers can walk around in public playing on their iPhone without looking like an idiot. That is a major reason why I choose iPhone games as my primary portable platform. If I played DS games reguarly, it would be at home and I'd rather play my consoles at home.
This is such a brilliant comment. You are just displaying your own insecurities by calling me kid, hell, even bringing a "mom" comment. How ironic; you are desperate because you ran out of your fantastic counterargumets. You are making this forum a disservice man.
Didn't you notice no one is agreeing with you here? And yet it was I according to you that fails in making an argument. Wake up kid!
C'mon man, that's just dumb. I mean, how is that even something positive? I don't give two flying f's if someone sees me playing a PSP, or a DS. Do you really think that playing an iPhone in public makes any difference?
And seems like everyone is agreeing with you. You earned a place in my "ignore" list buddie. Become a more mature person if you want to talk to me in the future. Stop displaying your own insecurities in your pathetic posts.
It is a positive because now adults have a portable platform they can utilize without dealing with crap from people. Maybe it doesn't matter to you, but in the workplace, playing a DS in the break room is often not the best choice. I said earlier in the thread that it shouldn't matter but unfortunately most people still see gaming as something for kids to do. Playing on an iPhone is different because people might think you are surfing the web, checking email, texting and so on.
Yes it does kid! I am in my coat and tie, the DS or psp does not compliment my corporate image, the iphone does. When you grow older you will realize that Again you switch to another argument that you will only fail at.
Oh c'mon bro. Play whatever you want whenever you want. If someone thinks "lol, he's playing videogames" big deal. I live in Seattle and every time I take the bus I see people playing their DS's, some guys using their PSP's as mp3 players (ok, that's a little bit funny). In the end, why do you care.
C'mon, can you tell me that a PSP/DS can beat an iPhone when with an iPhone you can play online FPS (and soon MMORPGs, I bet there are no MMORPGS for DS/PSP) wherever you are as long as you have 3G/EDGE connection? Oh right, PSP and DS do not have those amazing features, plus you can't play a FPS in a PSP/DS as smooth as with an iPhone. Oh... and game prices
I've been playing handheld games for quite a long time, and for the most part I have to agree with Omega, the iPhone just is not suitable for some types of games, especially first person shooters. I've tried most of the ones worth trying, and the awful controls were enough to put me off. That said, I hate the FPS controls on the DS too, so I just don't play them. I'd guess that the biggest thing for 'hardcore' gamers (I suppose I'd call myself one) is the whole button thing, having buttons is just easier for some sorts of games. An example would be any NES game, say Mario 1. You need to be able to hold down one button to run, and hit the button right next to it simultaneously to do a running jump. Using only your thumbs, it doesn't work very well on a touchscreen (I've tried it). For the whole FPS thing, compare iPhone controls to using a mouse, only instead of clicking to fire, you have to pick up the mouse and tap it on the desk. Or for N64, PS3 or Xbox, using the joystick to look around and pressing it to shoot. Not the most user friendly, and it limits your abilities. The iPhone is great as a mobile game platform if I really emphasize mobile. I carry my phone with me at all times, so if I'm bored at work, taking a poo, or waiting a minute or two for anything, it's perfect for pulling out and playing something for a really short period. I don't often carry around my DS or any of my old Game Boys, not due to some social norm that would bring me criticism for it, but because the games I play on them are far more involved than most iPhone games and require more time to play sufficiently. I actually spend the vast majority of my non-iPhone mobile gaming at home, in a recliner or on my bed. I used to ride the bus around Seattle as well, it was fairly common to see people using DS's while riding. Including late 20's to early 30's business women.
You would care if it could hurt your image at work. No matter if you want to or not, if you are in the corporate world there is a certain image you must keep up with to be seen as professional. Playing a DS goes against that image. Really I don't care what people think of me, but I also know I can't play games at work for the reasons above. Your image and what your coworkers and superiors think of you is a primary indicator in terms of how far you are going to go in a career. Of course if you work in the game industry or technology at all, this stuff probably doesn't apply. If you work in banking, consulting or other corporate fields, it's just one of those things you can't do.
I don't think anyone who has access to different platforms is saying to himself "Man, I wish I could play those sweet MMORPGS for iPhone. I'm so disappointed there's no EPIC Pet Wars or Survive High School for DS or PSP"
