Look, the company developed FieldRunners "Subatomic" has only done one game for iPhone/iPod touch platform and that is this game, besides that, nothing else. And the only effort they've spent after releasing is this update. I believe they are already out of date and may still consider appstore is same as one year ago.
I won't be buying them, not because I think the devs are greedy(which I believe they are not). It's really because I didn't enjoy the "main" game that much to even consider buying any maps for it. Why pay for maps on a game that you barely enjoyed? I'll stick with Defender Chronicles, The Creeps, GeoDefense, etc. NOW if you really liked the game, then it would make sense to buy the maps. Hell if a game I liked a lot came out with DLC I'd probably get it. To all the people saying Subatomic hasn't updated this game since it came out, please check the facts before making false claims.
I'm not answering the poll because I'm thinking about both, but leaning towards just getting Skyway. This seems unique enough, and I get frustrated when there's more than two entry/exit ways. That plus the laser tower is a good deal. I don't know what everyone is complaining about. The game is fully featured (now at least, not at original release), with 3 maps, OpenFeint with 90 achievements + leaderboards, social challenges, and 6 towers. That is easily worth $2.99, and barely worth the $4.99 I paid. (but it makes it) If this update was never released, people wouldn't complain. It's not the developers' responsibility to give extra content past what you paid for. Let's use the CoD map packs (consoles) as an example. The games are fully featured, and the maps are a bonus for people who love the game so much they want to pay for more content. Same with Fieldrunners. It would be nice if they were both for $.99 together, but that's not realistic. Compared to the PSP version, at its current price, buying the ENTIRE Fieldrunners package is still a steal. The only thing that would be nice is that if the locked maps didn't have such a large space on the map select screen.
Why spend $1 on a single map when you could get Navy Patrol (the entire game) for the same price? It doesn't seem logical to me.
