Great concept on the icon, its like a paper shredder where you shred the price tag of 1.99 and it became totally free! Creative!
I like it. And definitely do get what it's about, though it does not quite convey "Sale" to me right off the bat. Almost want a rolodex type feel with the top icons leaning backward (possibly even the word "sale" across the $1.99 figure in a faded graphic - though that may be too busy)? Sounds like a great app!
I think it's great. Really fits well with what the app does, and is easily identifiable as an app which shows other app's prices/ if they are free. I also like the fact that colours aren't extremely used, so it isn't too crazy, but its colourful enough for people to notice it! Good job guys
Dang, that's a nice icon! One suggestion, though, is that instead of 1.99 to free, it should be 2.99 to 0.99. Those prices seem more like a sale to me. When it goes to free, it technically is a sale, but it doesn't give you that satisfying feeling of responsibility that you get from using the app to save money, because you just flat out hot it free. I'm probably not explaining this very well, but there it is. Great job on it though, it looks very professional. EDIT: And make sure it's retina
Thanks for your feedback! Retina for sure I can´t reveal the app name, but it will include the word "App" And otherwise be very describing and understating for the icon.
the icon is confusing to me personally. I understand the use of the 1.99 and free elements, but the thing in the middle/between them, is that supposed to be a hinge? that's what i'm assuming, but honestly what i'm seeing isn't my idea of a universal hinge icon. also the outside of the icon seems to be an A, but its not quite clear enough to be sure if that's the intent or a side effect of the other elements? i guess the color/edges (of the legger). aren't catching enough to be subconsciously obvious. i like how things combine together to create the elements you have, just not sure whether that A is obvious enough, or that hinge is clear enough...
Am I the only one who doesn't like it? It fits the app sure but somehow it urks me. Proportionate borders perhaps. And the middle rollers stuff. I have a suggestion but since you are only looking for opinions on the current design... Anyway, how about an icon with a paper shredder shown diagonally. The current $1.99 piece can go on top and be shown as halfway shredded. The bottom of the shredder showing a free piece coming out. Just my two cents.
I don't like it very much. The colors are not perfect, and it could be misleading because it's hard to figure out the direction: is it 1.99 to free, or the other way around?
look quite nice and modern ! would try to integrate your initials or company name. and maybe change the colour on the free..so it can better flow from the 1.99 ! other than that pretty slick icon
i like the design. would replace the free part with half shredded part of the $1.99 part with a red mark through it. and maybe use some warm colour instead of the grey one
Icon looks professional to me... if this were 1996-2001. Those colours and font make me think of old shareware instead of a 2011 iPhone app. It would help if we knew what kind of app it was.
I would say, its well made, but its not really current design, in my opinion, maybe simplify it further and make the message simpler and straightforward. Whats running in my head is a glossy symbolic icon that catches attention but the user shouldn't have any problem relating to the nature of the app. Just my 2 cents
The 'Free!' part could stand out more, as it is the grey part stand outs quite a bit. Though I suppose it represents A for (App name) so it might be the integral part? Maybe there could be more prices instead of just $1.99.
I pretty like the idea of the `make it free machine´ icon. but before i can tell any ideas, i must wait till it´s aviable and try it.
