I sent feedback from my email stating "Well it is enjoyable and the graphics look great! I noticed it would hang up a bit after a toss on occasions. I felt like the menu design could be more aesthetically pleasing and more simplistic. Overall though it was a fun experience to play. Thanks!" awesome contest! woo
Thanks for your feedback! The "hang a bit" issue is fixed in update 1.1.1. Funny, just got a mail from Apple now that 1.1.1 is in Review
Ok here's mine (hopefully i'll remember to send it in on the app.) Great app, good visuals and character selection and the physics, love the vs. mode...i just wish i was better, i'm pretty bad lol
Feedback I agree 100% with the comments from IamRyanHello. Positives: Graphics: Excellent. Curling gameplay: Great. Fun to play. Sound: Fine. Constructive Feedback - Menus should be MUCH simpler. - Leaderboard & Achievement buttons are just blank icons. ie: unlabeled. - Tutorials don't explain anything. Should this be called "Practice"? - Inbox menu: displaying a long message about resolved bugs permanently on the main menu page detracts from your great graphics. In summary, the game itself is great...but the menus / tutorial are not (and people see these first). I'll send you a PM listing my specific menu recommendations.
We have just released update 1.1.1 and Curlington HD is now 60% OFF! And its still time to win the $50 iTunes Gift Card
i sent this one: "I absolutely am pleasantly surprised by the quality of this game! I find myself returning to play this a lot between work sessions. There is an addicting feel to it, and the graphics are pleasing to the eye. Also, the controls and interface are easy to learn, which is a very important point in my opinion. All in all, a very well made game. Id like to see a better icon, though, as it does not look very eye-catching." great game!
Just sent this: First, the graphics are ridiculously polished. It is quite evident that a lot of love went into this game. I'm really impressed with the physics, and it can be pretty intense going for deflections... My only question is regarding the tutorial. There aren't any lessons? It seems like it's just practicing. Am I missing something? Other than that, I'm truly impressed with the physics and even the ability to sweep, that's awesome! I think this is going to be a game I will be trying to perfect for the near future!!

I hope it is okay that this is lengthy (having the day off plus a warm house=verbosity ) I must applaud you for the first characteristic one finds and that would be gloss. I browsed through 5 other iPad curling apps and even more for just the iPhone. I discovered a clear division between the applications. Apps were divided by realistic and fantasy. Take for example a curling game featuring monkeys versus one based in real world countries. Curlington takes this very clear divide and systematically blends and creates a format that appeals to both sides As I mentioned above Curlington is refined and glossy. From the video backdrop to the playing field and even the characters themselves, Curlington places the gamer into an immersed world in which we finally answer the age old question, "how in the world does curling work?" We have all been in that situation. Watching the Olympics and curling comes on. The room is rapt with attention at a sport so much different then all the others. Curlington understands your curiosity and does not leave you stranded. Your stone pops into playing view and you realize the iPad was made for this. The hanger reflection glistens on the playing field. This idea of graphic reflection is not carried over into other curling apps as the more easy route is to go white gradient and let the game bank on it's gameplay. The last strength I will focus on before I go into improvements would be that the game uses a very powerful idea in it's execution...upgrades. A game's replay value can sometimes hinge in such a factor. In Curlington there is a distinct desire to upgrade as it improves your game skill and who does not want an extra hand. Every game has it's perfections as noted above and also it's imperfections and need for growth. I will start with the larger issues and work my way down to designs and nit picking brcause as a reviewer I owe you both. First off I would say that difficulty settings need to possibly branched out to easy, medium and hard. Reason for this was the first gameplay experience the AI got two stones immediately on the center. I discovered that you start off under medium which was definitely a surprise at first. You guys clearly put a lot of time in writing the rules as it was nit just some Times New Roman HTML add-on. With that much time i was taken back when I discovered that "Training" was more of just a play through without opponents. You have the potential of creating a simple but glossy walkthrough the gameplay but instead it is just one against none. If the idea of a training tutorial was not planned then simply the training could become a practice area. I found that not having an opening menu lead to confusion on my part as I had no idea what something like arcade mode worked. I found some glitches in the game. One of them completely broke the game and here is what happened. If you click your player and click play the animation will begin swooping you to the hangar. I tapped the screen while it did that and it did either two things. It put me in a complete freeze or it locked me into a game with a AI that did bot play and I was not even in the roster of players. I am going to include a picture of said glitch in my touch arcade post. http://tinypic.com/r/2ahsflu/7 Regarding the beginning page I differ from others and I actually like the gray space as it makes the front less empty space. I believe a better option for said gray space should be to remove the text box and keep the mail box shape. My idea was to have it glow when a new mail is received from HQ. I would then move achievements and leader boards down to that area. Also would consider moving the feedback and Rate button down below. Curlington is an app that deserves recognition. A fine balance between creative and casual while maintaining a beautiful glimmer to it. The game is not flawless but at the core of the game there is clearly a desire by the company to improve and refine. Picture this in your mind. The olympics are on and curling pops on the screen. You can say with pride that you know how it works, without going to any research site. If you ever had that desire to grasp entertainment and athletic mediums then this software is for you. EDIT: I just discovered that whenever I play a stone on training it will say Achievement and it will pop up but the achievement is one in which it takes 250 times to get 100% so essentially the achievement pop up will show 250 times. EDIT #2: I also discovered that there is a hotspot while in Training mode near the bottom that brings up the achievement list when bumped. I have been trying to find out where exactly it comes from but it is near the bottom of the playing field.
Thank you so much for this excellent review of Curlington Its inspiring indeed! And we are really thankful for your time testing in such detail! The first menu-glitch; tap while loading is now fixed and ready for next update. Also I think your complete freeze did shake things up i bit, because I have not had those last issues (from EDIT 1&2) while testing. I could not reproduce them now either... did you close the game down completely in the fast-app-switching bar after the freeze? Thanks again! Tore Hansen Lead Developer Operatio
I did what you said and no longer is that an issue (I completely forgot to try rebooting.) I agree I think the freeze really did shake things up causing those two issues as now the achievements work fine with no issues. Thank you for your kind words.
Thanks for the code earlier, just left a review. I am enjoying Curlington HD. The gameplay is smooth, the graphics are very nice. The game is definitely fun to play, but of course I do have a couple ideas. The biggest main feature request (and others have echoed the same) would be that the training demonstrate what you are supposed to do - give step by step real time instructions and introduce you to the game. The instructions are good, but really only make sense after you've played a few times - and even then it's a little bit confusing (which line is which, why the "congratulations" music plays for certain hits, etc). I'd definitely suggest a tutorial walkthrough of the gameplay, telling the user exactly what to do. It should also describe the gameplay screen - what the Distance Bonus means, and why you might get extra bonus. I do think if you did this in a tutorial walkthrough, it would make a lot more sense a lot more quickly. I didn't see a way to change the Team Name? I'd like to be able to name my team... When it shows the "prize" - it just spins around. I then hit "end game" - not sure what the prize is all about then. Seems odd. Also, when I got a tie game, I played inside the aircraft (shufflepuck?) Was not obvious what the goal was until I threw a few stones, so an explanation there might be warranted? Then at the end, saw the prize and could only hit "start menu" which then said the game would be lost. I assume that is the same as the "end game" that I mention above, just implemented differently? Also, twice it happened that there was no obvious way to exit the Aircraft Shufflepuck game in Non-Arcade mode (the Start Menu button did not appear for some reason). I had to play the game or completely quit the app to exit out of that mode. I'll try to recreate it (first time was when it was a tie game that went into shufflepuck mode automatically). You may also consider leaving Arcade "off" to start, as the user might get used to the gameplay first, then play arcade modes. I really enjoy playing it that way, actually. I'll delve into the arcade mode, but already seem to enjoy the non-arcade best. Overall, this is a strategic, challenging, and definitely fun physics game with a whole lot to offer. Adding more tutorial information will certainly help more people easily feel comfortable playing this fun game.
Thank´s everyone for great feedback and making the next update even better The winner of $50 iTunes Gift Card is: Bitsandpixeltester! Congrats! PM sent.
