Windows aren't "garbage". I have a Mac and a Windows, and although I use my Mac for pretty much everything but gaming, you have to admit Win7 was a big improvement over Vista.

you're right win7 is better than vista

  3. Please read for comprehension, not speed, and do try to avoid pulling debate points I never made from your rectum. You seem to have completely missed the fact that I have both. My Macbook Pro is sitting right in front of me, hooked up to a KVM so I can swap between them on the same monitor. Even bought a Magic Mouse and bluetooth keyboard for it, which is a pretty dumb thing for a person who doesn't like a platform to do, wouldn't you say?

Money is not a problem. I make decent money. I can afford nice toys occasionally. My objection had nothing to do with switching or money, and illuminating the Mac's shortcomings isn't hating, it's being objective. My issues were about the maturity of the platform where software support and the ability to choose arbitrary hardware are concerned. They're just not there yet, and given Jobs' proclivities concerning locking down platforms, I'm not holding my breath for the ability to upgrade individual components when they become available.

That, and it's still going to be years yet before Macs get huge software support. Apple has made massive inroads in that department in the last decade and I am really impressed by how Steve has managed to turn that company totally around, even if it has been at least partly by way of forming a cult of personality, but the journey he has set Apple on is far from over. I am quite certain Apple will get there eventually, and frankly I'd love to see that day come. But it's not there now.

That is a large part of why Mac is not my main platform right now.

Lol, my old HP laptop would just die if I'd put it on my bed, it gets extremely hot.

If you want to game get a Windows laptop, if you want to surf the web and stuff get a MacBook. The only problem is that you can surf the web on a Windows laptop too, and they are much cheaper.

    Your argument is irrelevant now.

    This.

Windows does everything Mac does, and MORE, and is still cheaper.

But you just don't get the hip indie commercials with the white backgrounds and "unique" music. So yeah, I guess you have to weigh your options.

  8. ...because I bought a Magic Mouse? I like the extensible multitouch features. They came in especially handy when I was up north surfing in bed with the Mac too far away from me to use the keyboard, so the Magic Mouse and BT keyboard made surfing much easier.

    Plus, it's surprisingly comfortable.

I just recently switched to Macs after buying nothing but PCs beforehand...and last year I was thinking I'll always stick to Windows and nothing else, until I actually tried out a mac late last year for a week staying over my cousin's house. This January, I bought myself a Macbook Pro 13 inch with 2.53ghz Core Duo, 4gigs memory, and 500gig hard drive and I'm really finding it hard to go back to Windows after using this for almost 6 months.

Programs just seem to load up quicker in Macs, don't have to worry about viruses and spyware very much at all, programs tend to run better, it's more secure, a lot more fun and intuitive to use...love the expose features and the 4 finger mouse pad...to better put, it just works better...the Macbook Pros feel a lot more robust, much better built, and secure than any PC laptop I've tried and the OS is a lot more secure and, basically better.

I still use my 2.4ghz Dell XPS13, mainly as a media center PC hooked up to my 52inch LCD and while I don't like Windows as much as I used to, I do miss the ability to snap windows to the left and right real quick in Windows 7 (or Linux)...that's just an awesome feature and makes working a whole lot better when I attach an external 24inch LCD to it...or if anyone knows a program that actually lets you do that in Mac OSX Snow Leapord, would be nice :)

Personally I would definitely go with a Macbook Pro over any PC laptop...eitherway, you can always boot to Windows 7 in a different partition on a Macbook Pro (or run Windows within Mac OSX itself) and Apple provides Windows 7 drivers in the box...so aint' that nice :D

I don't think Windows can run as fast, with no problems, and be as user-friendly as a Mac. There generally aren't multitouch gestures for many things, and the computers don't have the same build quality. Windows PC's and Macs excel at different things, but you can't say that one is better than the other at everything. Though, with my experience with 2 MacBook Pros, after having PC's, it's impossible to return to a PC after using a Mac.

Say Windows 7 and this thread will never leave the front page. Please! I love reading all the fan boys defending apple like it's their own or something.

    What does that even mean?

Do you mean faster? If so, I doubt your mac could beat my core i7 windows machine at anything speed oriented.

And build quality depends on the company. There are some great companies that sell windows machines with excellent build quality.
