What does hardcore even mean? I always here it in gaming. Why separate gamers? Why can't we just all be the same?

Hardcore gamer is a widely used term applied to describe a type of video game player. There is currently no unanimously agreed upon definition for the term. Some describe hardcore gamers as those whose leisure time is largely devoted to playing video games. ...

They devote a lot of time to the game, leveling up fast and trying to get to the top. While as Casual gamers log on whenever they feel like it, like to socialise a little and take their time leveling.

There's a HUGE difference between the 2 so that's why it can't be classified as the same.

Hardcore? Not if you want it to be successful. Especially on the iOS. Yes, there are hardcore gamers among the iOS faithful (I game about 2-3 hours a day between iOS platforms and PC), but the bulk of your audience are impulse purchasers and casuals. If you look at when WOW was most successful, it was in WoTLK, when they adopted a "raiding for everyone" policy. In Cataclysm, they back-peddled on that, went "raiding is for the leet", posted some rather hubris filled rebuttals like "Dungeons are hard!" and lost over 1 million Western/ EU subs. They only had about 4.7 million of those to start, and Chinese subs SHOWED growth each quarter so they lost about 1/4 of their player base in 6 months and the bleeding hasn't stopped.

So, my point is, making a game that has grindy, hardcore elements, WHILE being solo-friendly, not too time demanding to see content (not GEAR, but content) seems to be a recipe for success.

Plus you'll be going toe-to-toe against the hardcore mindshare for games like Star Wars (Bioware) and Guild Wars 2, so consider your marketplace before alienating yourself of consumers.

You guys are showing off a ton of mobs, and they look great, but what about the outside world? Grass, ground, trees and all that stuff?

While I absolutely agree with your point regarding WoM, I have to (simply have to! D:) tell you about what you said with WoW. You see what happened is when WotLK came out, everything became easy mode. Remember the times when you saw someone wearing EPIC gear in vanilla or BC? That amazing, epic gear which told the whole world "this player is amazing. he knows what he's doing and has been raiding and earning epics, therefore he is epic." Nowadays, everyone has such amazingly looking gear, that you simply dont feel epic anymore. The raids and dungeons have gotten so easy that usually after a bunch of wipes you get past a boss. Now what Blizzard has done wrong, what cost them so many subscribers was the fact that while all the things were easy and not epic, the heroic modes were so goddamn bloody difficult that only 5-3% guilds managed to do them. So while the old players are pissed at all the scrubs and noobs having amazing gear, obviously making the good players feel awful. (if you were a dedicated WoW player, and really knew your class, then saw all these noobs wearing gear that you worked for, I guess you'd be annoyed too) While those guys are mad and leaving the game, the entitled casuals are angry because "they want epics as they pay 15$ a month to see the content" you see what happens. Scrubs beg for stuff to be nerfed as they "wantz the epic phat lewtz trolol" the hardcore players are getting sick of Blizzard. I mean firelands was like done on first day? Really? One day? You see what happened.
Hope this cleared things up ^^
In reply to quest help and how hardcore the game should be. If the game has a lot of players, if its a success and people will buy it, play it, make guilds, etc. There definitely should be one or two hardcore (and i do mean HARDCORE) dungeons. Not simply "phew that was challenging" but really bloody hard. This because if you get a large playerbase, dedicated to the game there will be competition. Some players will feel very into the game, others will play it casually. Now for those hardcore players that will really enjoy it, you need a dungeon or two which will make them bang their heads on for a while (with interesting bosses and fantastic loot) so that those "actual good, dedicated players" can feel like they earned it. And when the noobs and scrubs cry "its too hard, I want gear or ill quit the game" ignore them. They be trollin'
Quest helper would be amazing for all those casual iPod/iPhone/iPad players that want an escape from a massive rpg on their computers, to a massive "small" rpg in their pocket.
Hope this helps somehow, cant wait for this game!! :)
