Very 1st real dungeon and 1st boss revealed

Very 1st real dungeon and 1st boss revealed

The first dungeon will be...Gothic dungeon

Originally we wanted to make Gem dungeon the 1st dungeon in the game but after working more with concept of order of dungeons, it became clear that Gem dungeon is to small to be the 1st dungeon in World of Midgard.

Main reason is that we want the first dungeon to gear players in many slots to be geared enough to battle in more difficult dungeons without making bosses a loot pinata.

Since Gem dungeon did not have space for enough bosses we decided to make Gothic the very first full dungeon (not counting Mine with RockFace).

Also Gothic dungeon allows us to create optional bosses to allow for different length of game play sessions and different progression in the dungeon.

There will be 3 main bosses including final boss, and 4 optional bosses on each level making total number of bosses 11 which is enough to distribute loot between them to cover most of slots.

To make it clearer there are total of 8 optional bosses, 4 on each of 2 levels.

Also each of 4 optional bosses have level final semi-boss. To get to final semi-boss you need to defeat at least 2 of 3 other optional bosses on the level. So we made 1 of 4 optional bosses optional even for level final semi-boss (double optional).

We think that such organization of bosses gives a lot of variety of the game play time and the way players can proceed in Gothic dungeon.

Bosses difficulty increases when players are deeper into dungeon so the easiest bosses are those optional bosses on level 1.

So if new under geared players can't defeat 1st of 3 main bosses who guards entry to level 2 of dungeon they can fight with those 4 optional bosses to gear up and finally defeat that 1st main guarding boss.

The same on level 2 of dungeon. If player's can't yet defeat 2nd of 3 main bosses who guards entry to main "big boss" room they can fight 4 optional bosses on level 2 to gear up.

So it's really like 2 smaller dungeons in one plus "big boss" at the end. Geared player can skip optional bosses so they can fight just 3 while those who still needs gear can have fun fighting optional bosses.

Now here is the 1st boss name, location, class, HP, and MP.

Boss type: double optional (optional for dungeon and optional for level)
    Name: Lady Ryiah
Location: Guarding gate on this screenshot

    Class: Mage
    HP: 700
    MP: 2100
    ads: to be decided

Please post what do you think about this dungeon and bosses organization.

Oh hell yes! Now that looks awesome. Thanks for the video, the animations look flashy and smooth. Arrows in the character, nice. Haha

@Veraxon, this will be for Android devices as well, correct? If so, will iPhone and Android share common servers? Please be yes..! Thanks for any info.

Size of Strongburg Lower Town & town square with time of day cycle

    Need your opinion on this:

Stronburg town square size is final but we are still not sure about Strongburg lower town size because when combined together it maybe to big for mobile device. There is 2 way we can do about it (we will test both)
    - leave current big size of lower town like on video below and make portal between lower town and town square
    - make stronburg lower town smaller like on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZHB-ddtfNY and connect them without the portal.

Please let us know your opinion what we should do about lower town.

Should we leave it big like on the video and make portal between lower town and town square OR we should do smaller lower town without the portal?

It does seem a little spacey, doesn't it? Depending on how many people will be running through it at the same time, I don't know... maybe too much running involved?

I'm amazed at how much improved the game looks. As for the town, while I definitely like the idea of a larger town with more to be explored, I wouldn't encourage a huge town if most of it is simply filler space. IMO, it would probably be best to go with mid-sized town where as every merchant/station/whatever is as accessible as possible while the town still feels enjoyable to stroll through. Also, don't forget to include a place of interest where different players can group up and/or socialize.

Btw, subscribed to the YouTube channel. Looking fwd to seeing more of WoM.

Working on optional "island" zone video is up. Enjoy

We just finished 1st "island" modelling and added to the engine.

We need feedback from you all what is your opinion about both the size and organization of it.

Since this one is the very first optional zone "island", your opinion has "weight".

We want to do this one as good as possible and the next even better.

This is video is longer than usual so you can see majority of the zone to "feel" the size.

Experimenting with Mounted Combat video is up. Enjoy

At this point we are just testing it to see if it make sense to do mounted combat. The main concern is screen size on the phone.

Please post your opinion what do you think about mounted combat.

When playing from a phone it is going to be near impossible to see reflections on armor. If it doesn't eat a chunk of resources it's cool. If it hogs some resources it isn't worth it.

Holy schnykies. I haven't really been paying attention to this game but with all these latest videos it looks like it has the dreaded "p" word (potential).

Has anyone beta'd this game yet? Does it have promise? Looks like it should be pretty big in terms of landmass but is there any depth to the game? Assuming they won't come close to that Jan 2012 release date given they are still building the world.

AT any rate...will keep my eye on this. Have been hoping for a mmorpg with a lot more depth than O&C (say something closer to original EQ than WoW).
