My biggest worry with that is now we know where Microsoft wants gaming to go, I just don't trust them not to change this once they get a foothold. I personally suspect they have only been delayed and will probably do it with a stealth update and change in TOS at some future point.

    "What do we want?!"

    "Mother 3!"

    "When do we want it?!"

    "Now!"

You of all people should have know it was Mother (EarthBound) 3. From one Nintendo fanboy to another (probably bigger fan), I am disappointed in you. :p

Unless Mid *was* talking about Xenoblade, but I can't imagine he was considering that it did come out in the US and Europe, and Mother 3 hasn't come over dispite over 7 years of begging from Nintendo fans.

I agree. They must be doing or planning something.
This move is just to get the console to sell.
Dang it. All our jokes are losing relevance.

That is the current speculation. They said that they could not give any reassurance that their DRM policy wouldn't change in the future.

Earthbound is coming to the virtual console on... uh... I think Wii U? Or maybe 3DS? I think Wii U, though.

It's coming! :D Like... before the end of the year, I think?

I'm in the minority here, but I actually liked the original plan! I, for one, am always online, so that 24 hour connection didn't bother me. I don't buy many used games, as I do most of my hardcore gaming on my PC, leaving Xbox for sports and cooperative games. That said, Family sharing with up to 10 people was a killer feature for me, as the original plan was to get more than one Xbox for the house. Having the family share in that situation would be a major advantage.

However, even with the changes I am not angry, as I am not bothered by the status quo. Just feels like they passed up an opportunity for innovation with this choice.

I myself can't see a single reason to buy a Xbox One. Both PS4 and Wii U have my interest, though. Wii U because of the games and PS4 because of the hardware + the games.

(yep, I know Wii U is already out, I just don't have one yet)

Xbox One looks like it is doing much better on amazon since the change in policy. No idea if it's outselling PS4 now or not. It's listed as #1, but PS4 is split into Launch (gone), Standard (not launch) and a bunch of different bundled options that you get at launch. However extra X1 controllers and the games are doing much better too, so that might be an indication that Sony is losing some of it's advantage. At least some former 360 owners have come back to Microsoft after the change.

    A) Okay. But the family sharing thing is ridiculous. If I want to play a game, why do I need a clear list of things to check off before I get the oppritunity to do so?
Why do I have to have my family member on my freinds list?
Why can't I just put the disc in and play the game? Thats what was wrong.
    B) Innovation? DRM innovations, yes. But seriously harmful to the consumer. Hello, yes not everyone has the wonderful internet connections afforded by some regions.
Bad innovation is what it was.

    Screw Microsoft and Screw Sony!

After learning about how horrible the Xbox One was, I was cheering for Sony.

I recently found out that Sony is going to charge for online services. Therefor, I am not buying the PS4.

It's not because of the online fee, it's about principle.

Being a gamer is about being able to play games you enjoy.

For Example: I like Zelda. I buy a Nintendo system to play Zelda. I buy the Zelda game. I don't have to pay any bull$*** fee to play the game.

Next Example: Let's say I play a game that has multiplayer.

I buy the console. I buy the multiplayer game. On top of that, they want me to PAY TO PLAY THE :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: GAME THAT I JUST BOUGHT!?!?!?!?!? GTFO SONY.

This is the EXACT reason I stopped playing the Xbox 360.

I am not going to pay a fee to play PART of the game which I paid full price for. I don't care if they are using that money to "improve the online service" which we all know is bull$*** because they don't need our money to "improve the online service", THEY HAVE THEIR OWN MONEY! I don't care about all the extra features that "Playstation Plus" provides. I just want to buy a system and a game without having to pay more $$$$ to be able to play part of the game which I paid full price for.

These companies have tons and tons of their own money which they can use and don't want to use their own $$$$!

Of course from a business perspective, Sony would be stupid not to charge an onine fee after the success of Microsoft's idea to charge for an online fee, thus proving that people would pay to play online.

However, Nintendo does not do this. Because they actually have good ethics. I greatly respect Nintendo.

Since when did being a gamer mean that I have to pay an "online fee" to play games that I enjoy and/or already paid full price for?!?! Yet they blanket it up by saying that we're actually paying for the benefits of Playstation Plus. Well, if that's the case then make multiplayer free, and if people want to pay for Playstation Plus then they will.

I understand this only applies to games that have multiplayer, but why should I have to pay full price for a game that has multiplayer only to have to pay $50 a year just to play part of the game, which once again, I already paid full price for!!!! It is so DUMB! I don't care anymore if Battlefront 3 will only be exclusive on certain systems. I will not and I repeat WILL NOT support any gaming company that is going to charge me to play a game that I already bought for their particular system.

How about this: New games cost $40 and if you want to play the online portion then you can pay $60

Oh, no they say? They just want more money, they say? Well in that case they have my permission to officially :mad::mad::mad: off!

Online servers cost money. I think you'll get over it in time, especially if the online is a lot better, as one hopes it will be. At least we won't have to pay for one account per user (as we did with 360 - not with X1 or PS4).

True, but they don't need our money to keep the servers running. This has been proved with the PS3. These companies have tons and tons upon tons of their own money they can use.

Ya, they are selling at a loss, but the preorder numbers of the ps4 compared to the xbox one speak for themselves. I really doubt they will need our money.

I won't get over it, because I won't be buying their console ;)

Oh wait...it's only a one time fee?

    Oh oops lol

I thought they were going to charge for each individual year?

Each year, but one sub works for everyone on the console. Also PS+ has been a pretty good value of its own. We'll see if it stays that way, though.

Xbox One is also one sub per console, which is different from how the 360 works. I'm hoping they bring that to the 360 too, but I'm not holding my breath.
