Depends what you mean by cloud servers. The Playstation 4 will be using Gakai (http://www.gaikai.com/qa) which, if you ask me, is probably the most exciting thing in gaming-related cloud technology. It could enable Sony to make their entire back catalog (PS1, 2 and 3) available to PS4 owners, without any downloading necessary other than streaming. That's really what I mean by keeping digital distribution optional. As long as it's a bonus rather than mandatory for the function of the console, I'm all for it.
Hey, are you still angry at me? Sorry if I acted like a jerk, which I don't think I did, but not sorry for just giving my opinion but if you felt offended sorry. All I was doing was offering my opinion. Don't take debates personally. But are you still upset?
I'm talking about cloud servers eliminating the need for hosted servers, in some cases with the host cheating the system by taking advantage of controlled lag, or less deviously, just having an inherent lag advantage. On X1 the servers are all "hosted" on the cloud. Or something. But we'll see how well this works in practice. It does sound promising.
I can guarantee the PS4 will be the stronger start. In the opening months, PS4 will reign supreme, because people are still pissed at Microsoft and don't trust them at all. More people are considering an Xbox One now, but it still isn't very well-received by the public. Once it gets Halo, Fable, and one other big Microsoft IP, though, I can also guarantee we will see a huge influx of sales, especially with the inevitable bundles that will come at their respective holiday seasons As for overall console count, I think it will be the same as the last generation (360/PS3). There will be phases where one is doing much better than the other, but in the end, when the generation finishes, the sales will be neck-and-neck.
Naw bro, I don't hold grudges I'll argue with anybody's opinion if I disagree strongly enough, but I don't make it personal. We're good. PS3 is ahead and has been since November 2012
Is it really? I know the numbers are obviously not 1:1, but I thought they were still somewhat close?
Yeah, it's close enough not to worry about. Sony kinda edged into the lead at about 70 million units but I'd only really use it in an argument if I was trying to be annoying. What is impressive though is that Sony hit the 70 mil target at almost the exact same time as MS, despite launching a whole year later. So it's really about faster sales than total number of sales.
Did Microsoft drop the 1 Gold account per console (or whatever) as a result of their removing the DRM? If so that is lame. What's it got to do with the DRM? However I've only seen one person say that was the case. I haven't read anything official. I'm hoping to hear that they are wrong. Actually I'm really hoping to hear that they are bringing that to the 360 too. Especially since they dropped the Family Gold option.
Which do u think will offer a better gaming experience between move and kinect for the next gen? I know hardcore gamers tend to roll their eyes at motion control games, but they are quite fun for family gatherings. I personally like the idea of a controller based motion gaming. And that's among one of the reasons I am leaning towards ps4 right now. Would like to know what folks here think
I don't like motion controls at all, but I've used both (not the new, updated Kinect though) and found Move far, far more accurate. Kinect was really picky with some gestures and seems to have trouble recognising what you're trying to tell it, while Move was practically as accurate as a PC mouse. I played Tumble, which is essentially a Jenga-type game, and the accuracy in which you can place the bricks down was mind-blowing. Almost down to the pixel. That said, Sony stopped pushing for Move support after poor sales, so unless they're really determined to try again, you might not see as many worthwhile titles. Kinect being bundled with the Xbox One suggests MS are supporting that much better.
Sony not bundling the sensor/camera with the PS4 already means that is going no where. I like Kinect, but that like is mostly for one game: Dance Central. It utterly and completely sucks that they seem to have killed the series in favor of a Disney game. If they had announced Dance Central 4 as a launch title for X1, I would have had a very difficult time resisting a pre-order. Also Fruit Ninja Kinect is really fun too. So I guess that's two games. To me Dance Central alone is worth it. IF they were still making it. Now that Disney game, it may well be a hoot, but I am not much of a Disney fan.
It should be noted that right now the PS4 is actually better to work with, the same way 360 was better last time. Or so I have heard anyway.
I'm a Microsoft fan from old, I bought the original xbox on launch day, I queued up at 5am to buy an Xbox 360 and have now gone through 4 of them, although I use it daily and have a library of 90+ boxed games for it. but... This time for once, I am buying the PS4, I will not have a kinect in my house and I have lost faith and trust in Microsoft, also things like using kinect to focus advertising and all the other crap they are doing. I hate to say it but its Sony town for me, at least they are focusing on what matters to gamers ie. GAMES!! Unlike tv,tv,tv,tv,tv,sports,tv,tv,kinect,tv,tv,nsa,sports,tv.. ....oh and games too. Xbox one. should be be called the Xbox 180 after all the u turns they've done. an I bet I'm not the only long time Microsoft customer they have lost with this crap!!
Extreme. I have no allegiance to Msoft or Sony, but had both previous Xboxs' since pretty much their launch. I had a PS3 for around 6 months but found the online service to be greatly inferior to Xbox Live so I got rid of it. Re next gen, I'm likely to stick with Msoft for a few reasons: - Xbox Live, their controller, Gears Of War (hopefully) and vaguely the Halo franchise.
I used to love Halo and the like but now fps games are dead to me, same old yearly recycled shit. I will never play another CoD,MoH,Halo or BF game, totally lost interest. btw enjoy your spybox
I'm mostly into Indie games now and while it pains me, I realize that at some point I'm going to have to get a Windows gaming PC... unless SteamOS proves a hit. Then maybe everything will be available there. I hope.
Must admit, i don't get the cod hype.... But, myself and a friend had immense fun playing through the halo 4 campaign. Not because it was good, quite the opposite... Halo 4s campaign is one huge steaming pile of poo, with possibly the most boring cutscenes and narrative in videogame history. Each level was 'go to point A and press a button' .....oh and the memorable level when you ride a ghost for 5 minutes while it starts to explode but you can't actually die. No, halo campaigns are just terrible, but the multiplayer experience is very good. Perhaps Bungies' Destiny will be a better bet going forward.... I thought the kinect now didn't have to be 'always connected' ?
I wouldn't call it extreme... unless you're referring to the extreme number of mistakes MS has made since Ballmer came into the limelight. They're screwing up almost everything they own, distancing oneself from them seems more like a logical reaction than an overreaction.
