Enough! Enough....and I'm going to rant. The op is asking for casual games. Why is there ALWAYS some remark(s) on comparing the Touch/iPhone to console games from the SAME people? As if your trolling..... Guys......enough...get over it and the btw, the main thing is PORTABILITY......you've heard it many times over already. Stick to your consoles.....at home....the only place you can play them........get it? Meanwhile I'll be playing games any other place other than home because thats what its all about. And yea, I've got a console but you don't see me always with the negative posts on how they are so much better or how the Touch is for casual players and not hardcore. (in reference to console gaming, I'm sure) And also, the Touch has progressed tremendously in gaming. The quality of games gets better and better. How can people NOT see that. Being shortsighted perhaps and each post I read of such brings the creditability of the poster even lower. Better yet, why doesn't someone with this outlook make there OWN thread and see the responses instead of sliding those type of posts in threads that are on topic? I'm just getting tired of having to deal with crap when the op is simply asking for casual games. That topic is old and takes away from the main topic of a thread. Just as I'm doing actually, but HAD to finally say something. Rant over!
When did this "hardcore" versus "casual" nonsense even start? Isn't there anyone like me who plays games just because they're FUN, not because they're "hardcore" or not? Speaking of which, what exactly makes a game "casual" in the first place? Accessibility? Simplicity? Lack of exploding heads? I personally consider those to be the key features of great games. In my opinion, a true "hardcore" gamer should be able to appreciate all games, whether they're simple, complex, easy, challenging, ugly, beautiful, short, long, or even based around slicing fruit. So PLEASE, stop complaining that a gaming machine isn't "hardcore" enough for you. Just download what appeals to you, avoid what doesn't and LIVE WITH IT. The iOS can be a great portable games device, if you learn that a game doesn't have to be "hardcore" (whatever that means anymore) to be awesome.
I see your point. Bigger and better games will be coming out soon for iOS, but, in the meantime, there's no harm in enjoying a little Cut The Rope, or a lite version of a casual game. Unlimited budget?
To me, "your favorite casual game" is essentially the same as the top 300 apps which you can find at this link: http://appadvice.com/appcharts I mean, aren't the bestsellers the same as the most popular, the same as "your favorites"?
Lol what the? Well idk I always grab any new releases that are good as soon as they're out so yeah december is gonna be fun.
Yeah, a 2.99 game would equal to about a month or so, except for releases like Modern Combat 2 Other than that, I usually save up.
Lol good point it's about having fun, not about a sort of religion. Anyway the word Hardcore is used to qualify games with a bigger production (cost), "Hardcore" word satisfy their young ego but doesn't qualify what they wish. Another point is those that hope for games with the same size and production cost than on PC or Consoles will have quite sad tomorrow of long wait with only few mid exception. Just because the App Store market has evolved to conditions not favorable to big productions and I don't see how this could reverse back.
One casual game I like to play now and then, and no-one's mentioned: Deadball Specialist, which is a football freekick simulator. Hooked me in so easily.
Nothing can get more casual than Zen Bound, a relaxing experiment more than a game. Also, there's not-so-actiony-but-fun games like: - Today I Die Again - Spider: Secret of Bryce Manor - Stair Dismount - Osmos - Beat It!
My definition of a casual game is one in which an entire game can normally be played in anywhere from 2-10 minutes, at least when starting out. Usually, they are driven by score. While debateable, I dont consider games where you unlock a series of missions or levels to be casual games (i.e. puzzle games, platformers and the like.) Casual games you play quickly, get your score, and the next game you start from scratch. I dont have long term favorite casual games since I get bored of them (normally) pretty quick, once my score stagnates do to the limits of my reflexes. At the moment I'm liking Plock and Arachnadoodle, both of which I got for free.
